I wound up getting into Vegas and getting my bag at 12:30 am then got the privilege of waiting 45 mins in this long queue which I hoped ended in an awesome roller coaster ride but turned out only to get me a $40 cab ride home.

ahh the Vegas cab line, gotta love it.

I think I only have one wedding left that I have to go to, I'll be happy when they're over.

Yeah I obv have no classes on Fridays. One class on Thursday, and nothing before 3pm. I can't wake up for school before afternoon. I still have no books, no notebooks, no pens, no parking pass, and no class schedule. Yawn, still got 4 hours 20 minutes. Plenty of time.

8am classes can put you on life tilt, but I couldn't take classes after 2. I have a friend who is either taking or just finished a masters in Chemistry at Rochester. But I have no idea if that is where you go.

QUOTE (Acid_Knight @ Monday, August 27th, 2007, 8:11 AM) *
Tskillz, I really loved Rochester and I was happy to go back and visit. I could see myself living there again some day but there just isn't a good enough market for what I do there right now.

I also really enjoy Vegas, but I probably plan to live here for less than 5 years total. I dunno, there are a lot of good and bad things about the place, but it works for me.
Also, where is the love for the New York Football Giants?!?!?!

Yeah I like it here too, just the weather sucks and I've never lived anywhere else. Maybe I'd love anywhere that was "home".

Can you go over some of the positive and negatives that aren't overly obvious? Why less than five years (unless thats too personal)? Do you feel like it would be a tough place to have a family or something?

I actually go to SUNY Brockport. I don't like to move out of my 10 mile safety net.

You go to Brockport? What's your major?

Sorry didn't see this. I originally graduated from UB with a poly sci/communication double major, but had no plan. Now I'm finishing up getting an adolescent teaching degree in Social Studies. Vegas needs teachers, thats why I'm considering going there. It's basically between there and NC for me, because it's incredibly hard to get a job here and I'm ready to try somewhere else out.

I don't think I will live here for more than 5 years because the girlfriend is gonna move here soon and doesn't really love the city. More than that though, the houses are too expensive and are small and unoriginal. The school system is just terrible and I honestly just don't feel that I'd wanna raise a kid in a place where I can't have a yard. If things go well, I'd like to be married and thinking about having kids within 5 years, so that probably puts me somewhere that's NOT Vegas.

As for the general pros and cons.
There are a million great restaurants here, both on and off the strip.
As far as some big cities go, it's not that expensive to live here, as long as you're not drinking on the strip.
There's always something going on, regardless of what you like.
There's poker 24/7 and lots of rich terrible players (oh, AREN'T overly obvious..)
There are all kinds of cool things to discover in and around the city that dont' involve gambling
LA is only 3 hours away.
TONS of jobs for most qualified individuals (heath care and teaching and engineering and such)

The bad stuff:
It's as unpleasant to go outside in the summer here as it is in Buffalo/Rochester in the winter, just for different reasons
The town is filled with degenerates and other unhappy people who you meet regularly
Too many fake people (personaltiy-wise and boob-wise)
There's a fair amount of crime and the city is pretty dirty in a lot of places
The drivers are terrible
Homeless people everywhere

it could have worked as a response to this post too

well water? is the house in Pinellas or somewhere else?
I was great at schedule making, one semester I had off from Thursday at 1:30 until Tuesday morning at 9:30.

I'm in Pinellas, this house is in Hillsborough...Valrico, to be exact.

I ruled at schedule making. I'd set up perfect schedules depending on what I'd think would be best for that given semester (i.e., all Tuesday-Thursday classes, all classes finished by Wednesday, all 3 hour courses, whatever), be very excited about my setup...and then drop all but one class which I wouldn't show up for anyway.

Public schools rule.

Welcome back, Acid. I almost texted you this morning to see if you were alive, and then I realized you were three hours behind me, and then realized you still wake up before I do every morning.

Seriously, did you use the word, "queue".

I wish all of this anti-Vegas talk would just stop. I swear, I will cover my ears and go, "lalalalalalalalalala" really loudly until it does.
tskillz187
Heh, at University at Buffalo I'd stack em all on Tues/Thurs and then once I skipped Tuesday there was no way I could start the week on my last day. Basically I can't believe I graduated from there having a less than 35% attendance record.

I lived with my girlfriend for just my freshman year. We took all of the same classes because we were stupid. She'd make me go and we'd study and all of that schoolish stuff.

That was the last year I bought a book for a non-major class.

Queue is just a word. That's what that long line-maze is though all of the ropes and stuff. Queue is just shorter.

I feel like I wanna kill someone this morning. I should've just quit my job and started a new one, it'd have been easier.

And for the record, I really do like Vegas. He asked for objective analysis and I provided it.

Meh, if I'm not in a spot where I have a good idea of the direction my life is going in 5 years I'll be pretty bummed. (Read: If some woman isn't sucking my life away from me and making me promise fidelity, money, marriage and kids, I'll be bummed)

You've obviously never seen the line getting into Ghost Bar, plenty of women that can do that. Well they mostly want the money, but the life sucking will be right behind it.

how you feeling?

I'm feeling fine physically. Occasionally my body requests a nap at odd times. That might be healing or just laziness.

I'm at the feeling stupid stage, honestly.
tskillz187
Laying here in bed, looking at empty beer cans, pizza boxes, and random clothes thrown around my floor (I'm looking for something to wear to class) I've decided that I'm awesome.

I think I am the laziest person ever to be able to continue living in a productive (stay with me) manner. I think there is no person as lazy (or lazier) than me that can keep getting teaching jobs, keep a steady money flow, somehow stay at par with people in athletics that aren't lazy, and all the more impressive still hook up with a girl every now and again.

Now all of this might not seem amazing to you normal people, because everything I'm doing is not extraordinary in any sense. But to the amount of my laziness each of the tasks is more difficult than the previous, and combined is quite the Herculian effort.

An update to a topic no one seemed all that interested in.

I spoke to my plumber today, the one who was hooking me up with the sweet 3200 dollar deal on the new well system. Using my keep poker senses, I felt like something was off with the whole thing. I finally got a different guy to go out there. Ten minutes later, the water was working again. Minor repair, total cost, 150.

LOL. The same thing happened at my house not too long ago when our well pump went. This friend mine came over to fix it under the impression that it was because he was a family friend and I could avoid a hefty bill (note: Not necessarily his impression).
