sorry this is a sensitive topic since i have been a New England fan my whole life. Roger Goodell said after doing his investigation said that it did not have an impact on the game.

I think the media did a really good job of turning this into a bigger deal than it was. I think taking away the three superbowls is waaayyyy overboard. Sorry about 2002 I know it must sting but you are being crazy.

I'm pretty sure Cobalt was a student of S7S. I was wondering how that experience was for you overall and anything specific you want to share about it?

Well, I started working with Steve last December and was doing decently at the time, but I've been a big proponent of continually learning, so I felt like a mentor was the next logical step. His price has been routinely criticized, but for what it was - "6 months" (but basically forever) of coaching from a high stakes player with students proficient in a lot of games. I felt like it'd give me a good source of information for the expansion of my game. I think that it accomplished this purpose...even though I still haven't fully taken advantage of it.

I stayed out of the recent round of discussions, because while I know that it helped me by forced accountability, I also know that it wouldn't be the same value to everyone. My feeling was: if you can afford it and are looking to improve your game, do it, but don't fret if the situation's not right.

C'mon, bro, I'm all for stripping the Patriots of all trophies and making everyone in Massachusetts miserable, but you can't honestly tell me that any of this puts an asterisk on how great Tom Brady is?

Also, I think if they stripped the title and gave it to the Eagles, it would be a super-fitting way for Philly to get a title. If that wasn't the perfect reflection of the Philly franchise, I don't know what would be!

As honestly as I can say this, I don't think ANYONE but the people involved can say what impact this truly had. And about the 2002 playoffs, you're right, but not for the reason you think: I'm a die-hard Steeler fan.

I agree with all that, except to say that, if you know where the defense is going as an NFL QB, it is a distinct advantage. You still have to execute.

I dont really understand this statement.

Are you saying the most value you took from it was that you had other strong players/players looking to get better to talk to all the time. And people you had to be honest with for results? Who was your group of players anyways? Do you feel like you improved as a player during this time? Did you roll reflect that? Did you stay close with the group?

To me, you seem more like a NL strat person than a S7S person. With a lot of them they seem to have a clique (not that there is anything wrong with that at all, and the people that I've talked to are all friendly/willing to talk) that you don't outwardly take part in. Do you still like meet up with your class and encourage one another or talk strategy?

If any of that stuff is invasive you don't need to answer it, just thought this thread could use some fresh topics and this is something of interest to me.

God, I'm such a moron. I can't believe that while you were making your truly ridiculous "Eagles are most consistent" claim, I only brought up the Patriots and left out the Colts.

Between the Patriots, Colts and Bucs, we have three teams that have made the playoffs at least as frequently over the last decade and each have a SB win!

I'm talking this century homie. I know the Pats and Bucs havent made it as often. I'm confident the Colts haven't but not positive. Your first sentence was correct though.

It's really hard to deal with some Eagle fans. It's like the Yankees/Red Sox fans syndrome. You have some of the most arrogant, self dilluted, and irritating fans on both sides that create this idea that both Boston and NY are full of nothing but a bunch of whiny 8 year-olds that have nothing better to do than talk about how their new bike is better than yours. Granted, not all Eagle fans are as stubborn/delusional about sticking up for their franchise as you are. But this is really the sort of behavior that has earned Philadelphia fans such a bad reputation (following only behind NY fans). The Eagles have been good over the past years, but you can't compare them to Indy or the Patriots. Those 2 teams are in a league of their own and then Philly is behind them in a league of its own.

Edit: I actually do like the Eagles as a team. I really what Andy Reid's done over the years to keep his team competitive almost every year, and I like the team's style of football. I can only really name 2 players that I can't stand: McNabb and Dawkins (TO obviously when he was there.)

The Eagles can be compared quite favorably to the Colts. It's very hard to honestly say they have been better than a team that beat them in the Super Bowl and has 3 rings during the same period that I am questioning. What makes it sting a bit less is that the Eagles played poorly in that game and lost by 3 after everyone was saying the Eagles would have to play their best and the Pats their worst for it to be a close game.

Oh and I'm having trouble with choosing a Rounders quote to defend how I talk to Naismith, you can choose.

smile.gif Agreed.

Also I think I can honestly say that Carolina is a legitimate deep playoff contender this year. Steve Smith is averaging 150 ypg icon_eek.gif and is on pace for over 2000 yards receiving. Now if only DeAngleo Williams would get out of the muck, they'd be high flyin'. All they have to do is sweep those stupid Bucs and have Julius Peppers flatten the tires on a certain Cadillac wink.gif

Ah, well, originally you argued this decade, but I guess if we can change things, we can make any argument work for us.

Still, if we're including the 1999-2000 season (which I know you won't since it doesn't help your ridiculous side), the Colts have been there more times. Without it, the same. The Patriots and Bucs have been to the playoffs one less time than the Eagles. All three have actually won the SB.

I know it sucks cheering for a team that has nothing to hang their hat on, bro, but you'll always have how awesome Randall Cunningham used to be on the Nintendo.

Yeah...that's pretty much what I'm saying. I had/have plenty of poker friends that I can rely on for advice, but there's an accountability that came with joining the group...and I'm not sure how to completely explain that. The group includes/included Vick, AAsnake, Mark, TB17, hblask, mikeysong, PoppinFresh, BubbleBoy, wrto, checkymcfold, wisky, mx957, psujohn, nutzbuster...and I might be forgetting a couple. I think I improved as a player through the regular chats and opportunities to hang out. My poker earnings were actually pretty decent during the winter and spring. I've actually been a little disconnected lately (entirely my fault), but I know I could approach almost any of them (particularly Steve) for help within minutes.

I've done a lot of talking with them online outside of the forums, and we got together in LA during February. A big portion also congregated several times in Vegas during June, and there's a get-together in LA this week, though I'm not going due to work obligations.

I think that I definitely started as an NL strat person, and I consider this my foremost home within the forums (even though I think I've been neglectful lately). I think I mingle a lot. I'd guess there are at least 20-30 people around here that I'd consider friends. In addition to S7S, I get along okay with the JC/looshle/Hoosier crowd decently, some of the OT crowd, and a number of "independents". Just looking at my IM list...I've got 53 people listed under "Poker".

Actually, I was shooting for Naismith, but if you want to come along for the ride, that's fine, I'm equal opportunity.

And you can't seriously believe that this is the first time, can you? I mean ... why do you think the league made it a point of emphasis, and then specfically went and observed the Patriots? Maybe because they've been doing it for years?

I think the Lombardies should be yanked and awarded to the opponents, such as the Eagles. If the NFL was as concerned about credibility as the NCAA is, that's what would happen. ...

they are making way too big of a deal with this, does any other sport have a rule like this? I doubt it. If they are dumb enough to not try to disguise the signals in some way it's their own fault, in baseball you usually have a guy or two in the dugout trying to pick up the other teams signs. It's just part of the game. Taking away a superbowl would be the stupidest thing I've ever heard for trying to steal signs.

Sidenote - And I am not a Boston fan.
