I thought I did actually until I looked back. I misremembered the hand when we were talking.
I still think it's marginal with QJT and diamonds. I would have at most 16 outs if everything was clean, but I think it would be a call.
I'd have raised the flop with that though.

If you'd raised the flop, I think I'd have been all in (correct?) There's little to no chance you don't raise AAxx preflop from UTG+1.

Not really asking, I would have gotten it in there against you and that specific guy. Not sure if it's correct to do so though.

It is. In general you can't fold middle set unless it's been raised and reraised preflop and it's a dry flop.

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007, 4:01 PM
but really, if you raise it up, and buddy calls it I have to assume I'm against diamonds and the straight draw, dodging about 65% of the deck, TWICE to be any good (if I'm even good at that point). Am I better off to just lay it down if that's the case? Flat call and open shove a dry turn?

You have 7 followed by 10 boat outs. You have considerable redraw value.

When he called the flop I figured he had a draw, so on the turn I reasoned he was likely drawing dead. Either that or he had J5 and was now beating me. The only hand I hate giving a free card to is a draw that includes a 5.
I can't, however, justify my river play. I guess I was just lapsing into a NLHE thought process. River should be a flat call every time.

Please reraise this preflop. You are throwing away money if you don't IMO. You have position in a HU pot.
Oh, and for the $1 prize I offer the following:
1) He is pretty sure you have a king, and you can easily have AK or KQ. He is shoving the river because he wants you to fold those hands.
2) He thinks you can have a wide range, and you might not believe he has a king. You may pay him off with a hand like AA or AJ. You may also pay him off with Kxxx with xxx all being 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, T. He is better leading the river than he is check/calling because you check behind with some hands he beats.

But do I call the flop raise and then raise the turn with any of those hands? If he thinks he is good isn't he better off shoveling the turn?
Lets look at his play in the hand..

Hey, you just asked how he could possibly think he was good. I gave not just one, but TWO options where he could think he was making a good move.
GIVE ME MAH DOLLAH!1!1!-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
His check/minraise on the flop is ugly. I think I like his turn play, but I'm not 100%. I think he has to check/fold the river, as frustrating as it seems.

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007, 11:53 AM
If he was going to raise the flop, I think he has to pot it. Even if he does so, I'm not folding. Standard?
Should I have 3-bet the flop?
simo_8ball
Tuesday, October 16th, 2007, 12:01 PM
Yeah, I think you should 3-bet the flop.
I

your turn minraise. Means that he will struggle to fold any river.
