Yeah.
A few hands later KKJJK board , someone pots river for 65$ , he calls and shows QJT6 for Q high. Other guy obviously had quads.
He left after that hand.

I'm back! If you may recall, I took a break from online poker after enduring a 10-buyin downswing at 2/4 in 2 days. That pretty much put me back to square 1 for 2/4 (I'm at work right now, so I don't have the exact number, but I think I am around +$100 overall at 2/4... bleh). Well, that big rollercoaster ride is behind me (for now, anyway...) I was just never really comfortable playing outside my bankroll (which I was doing while playing 2/4). I will be returning to the more comfortable limits of .25/.50 PLO (and .25/.50 NLHE) and try to master 4-tabling (up until now, I was only a 1 or 2-tabler).
My mantra from here on out is "Play within your bankroll!"
I'm just glad my "experiment" didn't end up costing me any money. Nothing can tilt you more than losing a buy-in (...or two...or three ...or ten) against a donkey while playing at a level for which you are not properly rolled.
Due to a *significantly* busier schedule this fall, I will probably only manage to play once or twice a week (*sigh*...)
I will keep you guys updated.
PS: Play within your rolls!!!!
Cheers,
Merby

Which part? The 600bb hit I took in two days? lol
So glad I'm playing (at least close to) with proper bankroll instead of in the bigger games.
Have 25 buyins right now. I think the lowest point I got to was 18 in the last couple days which is still decent.

I used to play at Bodog and it was amazing. Annoying software but the players were sooooooooooooo bad.
There used to be more than one player with +400$ stacks at 50$ max plo tables. Avg pots of 25$ - 30$ for hours.
Why did i ever leave Bodog?

I think there is but I have'nt gone to the hassle to set it up. I don't really keep detailed stats or graphs but I suppose I should. In general I am fairly honest with myself so if I am losing or doing something wrong I can usually figure it out by thinking about my play or asking someone else etc.

Still running good -- not much time to play today, I worked 12hrs - will be the same tomorrow. On the days I work, I'm trying to play at least 500 hands though to average 15-20k hands a month. Running at 20bb/100 can't last forever but it certainly balanced out that massive losing day I had. I'll try and find a good hand or two to post for some discussion, I enjoyed the top set thread today (anyone else sense I'm bored most of the day at work!?!?)

and mtd -- back above my goal of 5bb/100...lets keep it going

Just bluffed a guy off a huge pot.
I flopped top 2 with A7Q3 in my hand
on a board of A72 with 2 spades
villian bets pot I call, turn offsuit Q
He bets pot again, he is veryy aggro and will fire 2 and 3 barrels but I did'nt think he would do this with a fd so he either had air some weird straight draw or a set
I called OOP turn was a spade and I fired pot and he started moaning nice catch etc. And I took down a 500 dollar pot. Up 1400 today now

Here's a question, since you mentioned cashing out. I really (reaaaallly) want to use uber-proper bankroll management here. I also would like to have a plan or ideal or goal to work towards. The ideal for me is to be able to keep building up at $25 (and using ALL rakeback proceeds towards roll) until I have $1750-2000 or so, which I am ballparking by early to mid november. At that point I want to take the step up to $50. Now. What I would "like" to do when I get to $50 is to increase my roll with profits only, and start cashing out the exact amount of my rakeback for that month. If my pseudo-calculations are anywhere close, if I can play 15000-25000 hands a month at $50, I should get somewhere around $500-$750/month in rakeback.
Now, does this sound like a sensible plan, OR should I focus on adding some or all of the rakeback to the bankroll until I'm at a certain point?
BudBundy
Tuesday, September 11th, 2007, 2:13 PM
It is a sensible plan.
But why don't you wait until you move up to 100$ or 200$ before start cashing out. You already have a job and steady income , it is not like you need the poker money.
I know poker money is sweet to spend but if i were you i'd wait until i am playing 100$ fulltime with a good bankroll. Then with the bigger profits i'd withdraw half of my profits and add other half and rakeback in the roll. That way it will motivate you to play solid because you will know if you play bad you will get less sweet poker money to spend.

So for arguments sake -- proper comfortable roll to step up to $50 -- I'm good with 1750-2000 imo. I liked $50. --but--after seeing your $100 experiences, what do I need to go to $100 ? >$5000? I don't want to go to $100 with 3 grand and find myself with 2200 after 2 or 3 tough days...lol

Well I think it all really depends on your priorities. If you want/need the money for rent, food, partying, new car then taking out of your bankroll should be fine. If you want to move up in stakes faster, than you should not take as much out if you can afford it and hypothetically you will end up making more money once you reach the higher stakes. Getting experience at higher stakes in omaha will really increase your game as IMO at the smaller stakes its harder to make moves, bluff etc. and any higher level thinking can go to waste. The learning curve will be that much quicker.

How does one overcome the "holy shit that's a lot of money" complex?
By saying that I mean that while playing 0.25 right now, I don't really care if I lose to a pot sized bet in a pot that is $12. At the end of the day, it's $12.
Once I'm playing at $100 and $200, and a guy shovels $90-$100-$110 in against me on the river, HOW the hell do you make that semi-marginal call? I guess that's what playing with proper br is all about but man... Right now, I can't see myself ever thinking of it that way.
I wish the sites had a "BB only" option, where you could make ALL table buyins and stacks and bets in BB. There would be no dollar signs. Every time you bought in to whatever limit you were at, you buy in at "50BB". That would be something I'd use for SURE.

depends on your winrate, style and the games you play in, and if you full buy all the time. For example I tend to try and play a low variance style if possible because the games are so wild, this means I dont go crazy with AA unless I can get 1/3 of my stack or more in pre, also I dont max buy much of the time. So when I play 400 max I normally buy for 300 and 600 max 450 unless I think the game is great then I max buy to maximize equity.
