Cant wait for football to start. Lifelong Seahwks fan here. Its gonna be tougher in the NFC west this season but I believe if the Seahawks can stay reasonably healthy that it is theres to lose once again. There off-season moves were decent for a high payroll team. Getting Kerney and Deion Grant should improve a underrated D. The one thing that concerns me is D-tackle, they gave up alot of yards rushing up the middle and did nothing to address that issue so hopefully they have no injuries there. There offence should be fine and I hope Branch can show something this year. Glad to see Jackson and Stephens gone, they have dropped to many big passes to give them anymore chances. Look for Hacket to step up big time with more oppurtunities. Overall I think with the expirience on this team they have a shot of going to the superbowl again but they cant have the injuries to the extent they had last year.
grocery_mony
Weeeeeeee 20-6. Looks like I am the only hawks fan around these parts but I so pumped for this season. There D looked really good once they made some early adjustmensts. Kerney looked very good and the new safeties should deffinatly improve them. I think Pollard might be the steal of the off season though as he will get alot of those short <10 yard dump offs that others in the past kept dropping. If they stay relatively healthy on the D side and there offence gets back into top form they should be right up there in the NFC.

Long time Seyhawks fan here. I don't follow Football as closely as hockey, but Alexander will have a massive season this year.
Interjection
Haha, first post.

I am also a lifelong seahawks fan...well...since I was like 5 so...15 years.

Anyway, I do love our team this year, I love the way Pollard plays, and his performance in the season opener I think is just signifying more good things to come.

I like the fact that Mo Morris is getting more playing time too, I am not a big fan of Alexanders, I think he gets caught up looking for holes when he needs to be getting yards. I think losing Hutchinson makes him have to change his running style. If you watched the season opener you saw a lot of waiting going on. Mo Morris gives a different kind of running, which I think is good for getting yardage, and might help Alexanders style work better.

Deion Branch is a good player, and I like the pickup. I really hope the season opener was just a fluke, and Hasselbeck can find him more often, I think he is way too good of a player, and way too expensive to not get a lot more looks then he got against the Bucs.
grocery_mony
Agree with your points about alexander Interjection. Any running back looks good when he untouched for the first 5 yards like he was with Hutchison. I was actually hoping they would bring in a big short yard RB as shaun always seems to get stuffed on 3rd and 1.

Seattle -2.5 @ Arizona.
Cant believe the line is that low. Arizona is better but there young offence looked shaky against the niners. With Seattles pass rush Cards better hope they can run the ball and dont get into alot of obvious passing downs. Seattles offence will get better than last week. I say Seattle 24-13.

And yes Fryer I am still bitter of the Superbowl loss. When you are a lifetime fan of team with a pathetic history and they finnally put it together one year and make a Superbowl you hope they get a fair shot at it. There were major blunders by the refs that werent corrected with replay. Would it have made a diffrence in the outcome? Maybe. Seattles a way better team when they dont have to play 1 dimensional which happened because they got down so early.

I'm also a huge Seahawks fan and partial season ticket holder, and even I am sick to fucking death of hearing Seahawks fans whine about losing the Super Bowl. Yeah, it was the worst day of my life as a football fan, but to be honest, a lot of that was because the Seahawks failed to convert when they had chances. Would the outcome have been different if some of the bad calls were overturned? Maybe. But would the outcome have been different if the Seahawks didn't play like garbage? Definitely.

I don't blame him, but that doesn't mean I can't keep bringing it up/giving SEA fans shit for it, right?

So pathetic! One thing that really pisses me off about the seahawks is there notorious slow starts over the last couple of years. Cant spot teams a 17-0 lead and expect to win many. And where was the preasure on Leinart? 90% of the time they only rushed 4 against a young qb you should put the heat on him and make him earn his completions.

Yeah, and despite all that, they were driving for the win until Mack Strong blows a block on a broken play and they fumble. God that was a disgusting loss. The UW/Ohio St. game the day before wasn't much better.

It was a rough weekend for Seattle-area football fans.

Was that strong who ****ed that play up? I didnt get to hear any post game talk but it looked to me like Alexander didnt have a clue that he was getting the ball. Cinnci will be tough at home next week but if the Seahawks are the calibre of team that I think they are they will get the W.

Another thing that is bothering me about the Hawks is all of the 2nd and long draws they run. Once or maybe twice a game is fine to keep them honest but it seems like they do it 4 or 5 times and it is getting to predictable.

From what I understand (and this could be wrong), Strong disrupted the handoff and THEN blew a block that cost them that play. I love Mack Strong more than any other Seahawk ever, but it's getting pretty clear that he's more of a liability than not on the field at this point in his career. Same can be said for Shaun Alexander. He severely limits their ability to pass out of the backfield, and it looks like Morris, Leonard Weaver, and even Alvin Pearman are all running harder and with more conviction than the former "MVP" (I think most people realize that the real MVP on the 05 team was the left side of the offensive line, but that's neither here nor there).

I guess we will take it. There secondary is starting to worry me. Seemed like the Bengals threw the ball at will. Yes that was a blunder by the refs on the hasselbeck reception call. Even though it went are way I hate it when refs get it terribly wrong. Big game next week. Time to crush the niners hopes before they get to full of themselves.

First off, I hate you, Fryer. wink.gif

Second, as I said in the Army thread, that was the worst played football game I have ever watched on the part of the Seahawks. The Steelers played well, and that 10 minute drive to start the 2nd half was an absolute killer. Trufant made Cedrick Wilson look like Jerry Rice in his prime on that drive. So many 3rd and long plays were converted for first downs. It was so goddamn depressing for Seahawks fans.

Plus Mack Strong is now out for the season (probably career? I don't see him coming back), and Deion Branch is out for 2 more weeks. Uggggggggggh.
grocery_mony
Been on holidays for the last couple of weeks so I havent jumped off the bandwagon. The SF game was big but that Steelers game was frustraing. There offence just isnt there this year. Alexander is looking like a washed up version of his former self. I know it didnt have any diffrence on the outcome of the game but what the hell is with Holmgren and his clock managemnet? When Hasslbeck got sacked in thet late 2nd q drive on the Steelers side of the field why no timeout. It cost them about 20 seconds when they still had 3 timeouts left. Holmgrens worst quality is his clock management and he has made alot of blunders in that department.
grocery_mony
Pathetic effort. This team needs a shake up right now. My choice would be to can Holmgren and name one of there coordinators interm coach then get into the Cowar sweepstakes in the off season. Thank god the NFC west is so weak still.

Agreed. Terrible play calling towards the end there. Why in the world would you run a draw play on 3 and +6 with a 1:20 left and you're down by 11. Whoever called that play needs to get fired.

And Madden was right last night. On 4th down there, you kick the field goal and hope to get the onside kick back. At least give yourself a chance to win. I would be livid after watching that if I were a Seahawks fan.

I definitely don't see this happening. Plus, would any real Seahawks fan REALLY want to be coached by Cowher? That's like working for the guy who fucked your girlfriend. If Holmgren leaves/gets fired (which I certainly wouldn't be against), it'll be Jim Mora Jr. or even Jim Zorn before Cowher, I would guess.

Cowher didnt fuck my girlfriend, the superbowl officiating crew gang banged her icon_biggrin.gif . JMJ would be a good mid season replacement for now and see what he can do to right the ship. If my memory serves me right wasnt there some classic Holmgren timeclock management blunders lated in the first half in the superbowl too?

Bump! Nice game last night. There new emphasis on passing first is long overdue. They Finnaly get a group of receivers togethter that can catch the ball and they still insisted on trying for half a season to ressurect Alexander. if you go back and watch the games from 05 they would ussually always start out passing heavily and mixing in the run, this year they kept running on first, second and sometimes third and long. not gonna get too excited cuz i still see somethings that bother me, like no killer instinct on offence. They build a lead and ussually let the other team creep back into the game when there offence continually goes 3 and out in the second half. One thing I gotta give them props too for this year is there run D has been very good compared to last year. Bears next week should be very intresting.

Bears fan here. Sunday's game should be pretty interesting indeed. It's a must win game for the Bears if they want any hope whatsoever of contending for a wildcard spot.
grocery_mony
Very gg. When the bears got up 10-0 I thought here we go again. What happened to the Bears D? Last year they were so good but today they looked average at best.
grocery_mony
Nice suckout icon_biggrin.gif . Another awful start gets erased. Arizona lost so were up by 2. Kerney looks like a very good signing after the slow start(6 sacks and 1 int in 2 games). Bring on the Eagles.

Ho Hum another division title. I really like this team and I think everyone in the NFC better watch out in the playoffs. seems like there getting a deffensive player of the week every week and its always someone diffrent(Peterson, Kerney, Tatupa and probally Trufant this week). The one team that scares me for an opening round opponent is Minnesota. Everone else they should beat handily. Then hopefully on to GB then Dallas if the Cowboys dont choke.

I think we'll be getting the Giants in the first round. Eli sux it in Seattle. And I don't know who I'd rather see in the second round. Probably Dallas just because it's cold in Green Bay. But both scare me.

No doubt they will be at least touchdown dogs to either Dallas or GB but I just have a feeling this team is kinda gonna sneak up on everyone in the playoffs. being hidden out west and in the worst division(NFC south is giving the west for a run for the dogshit division this year AFC west also kinda shitty) I dont think people are taking the Hawks seriously. There D is a big play momentum changing machine that I think could humble Favre if he goes back to forcing it. Dallas is scarier IMO but I still they the hawks could beat them in big D.

As it stand right now NYG would play TB and Seattle would host whoever jumps up(probally Minnesota) I ould love for Arizona to jump up though but they wont.
grocery_mony
Yay the post season is here. Bad game today but it didnt really count for anything but pride. The skins will be tough but I am actually happy to be playing them over Minny. With some clunkers from the Pack and the Cowboys as of late I like the Hawks chances just as much as anyone else in the NFC this year. If Aleexander has any game left in him at least he should be well rested for a deeeeeeep run. My prediction Seahawks 33 Pats 24...oh wait getting a little ahead of myself icon_biggrin.gif

I've been a Seahawk fan since we traded for him from GB. I was a packer fan before that and watched him play preseason and clean-up duty behind Brett Favre. I was convinced watching him that he was going to be a great quarterback.

With that said, I can't wait to watch us play GB. I'm sure he'll play a lot better as long as that wrist isn't bothering him. Remember that Matt has a habit of saying he's fine when he's not. I live in Wisconsin, so I'm surrounded by Packer fans. If we win, they'll hate me forever. Go Seahawks!

It will be tough but i think the Hawks have the D this year to beat GB at Lambough. When they played in the preaseason I could tell that the Pack was gonna be good this year. I think if they can frustrate Favre early he could resort back to his irradic ways ala the Cowboys game. +8.5 is alot of points too so might drop some cash on this. I think all 4 teams left in the NFC are capable of going to the SB. I am also thinking of putting a little on the Giants to win outright against the boys. Still not sold on Romo as an elite QB.

I kid I kid....

Hawks certainly have a shot in this game. My only concern is that people are underestimating Ryan Grant. Everyone seems to think both teams have no running game. Did they not notice Grant almost had a 1000 yard season only starting 10 games? Sounds like a running game to me.

I am a Seahawk STH/fan but I can't see this game going well for us unless we score a DEF/ST TD.

Predicted Final Score

GB 24 Sea 23
