Ok, I know many of you dont agree with this, and that some of you do...but i felt strongly about this piece, and felt like posting it.

Go at it....weeeeeeeeeeee

Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by people who brought it to our shores on 11 Sept 2001? Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered in downtown Manhattan, across the potomac from our nation's capitol and in a field in PA?

Did nearly 3,000 men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was "desecreated" when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet? Well, I don't.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating those innocent people on 9/11. I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia

I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called "insurgents" in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques. I'll care when the midless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.

I'll care when the American Media stops pretending that their 1st American rights are somehow derived from international law instead of the US Constitution's Bill of Rights.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain info, know this: I don't care.
When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped I don't care

When I hear that a prisoner who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed special food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being "mishandled" you can believe I don't care!

i totally don't care about this thread but here are my rambling thoughts.

at the time we went into iraq i was for it. unfortunately, with 20/20 hindsight, it looks like we made an unprovoked attack on a county and violated their sovereignty. was getting rid of the dictator a good thing for humanity? probably. but there are just too many countries with far worse dictators for us to police the world. also, i have issues with any judgment on morality that ends in many human lives. history will judge whether or not our actions in iraq were justified (at this point i assume unfavorably), but i'm still not wholly decided on its validity and may never be.

the more important issue now is not whether or not we should have gone into iraq, and whether or not we are currently winning the war. what needs to be discussed is an exit strategy. unfortunately the current administration seems like a brooding highschool kid, hands in the pockets, and shrugging "i duuunnnooo" when it needs to make a feasible plan clear, and more so needs to take swift action to see that its followed.

i dislike discussing politics with 100% of my heart. i think trying to put a ball through a hoop is a more worthwhile pursuit. nothing is ever resolved. people's minds are rarely changed. people become upset and hurt. and vary rarely do people ever do anything to make change. also, i hate politicians but that's another meaningless rant.

That guy really doesn't seem to have a grasps of the issues at hand if he is complaining about the way the US treats it's POWs. I don't really understand his stance, he wants to get revenge for 9/11 by taking it out on Iraqis I guess, but they aren't responsible for 9/11. Also comments like

Are just plain juvenile, I don't know what is appealing to you in this guys argument.

He says the insurgents fight like cowards, but is it heroic for Americans to blow up suspected terrorist cells from with guided missiles from kilometres away causing the death of plenty of civilians.

I'm not supporting the enemy here, but all this hoo-rah, lets kill all those Muslim scum in Iraq and mistreat them while imprisoned is completely ridiculous. It's futile to try to change someone's opinion like this but I find it disturbing chrozzo that you post this like it has merit. I'll care when the American Media stops pretending that their 1st American rights are somehow derived from international law instead of the US Constitution's Bill of Rights.

If this guy had ever actually read the Bill of Rights he would know that none of our rights are derived from the first 10 amendments, they are derived from the Laws of Nature. The BofR is simply a statement of these natural and human rights. As for the general tone of the editorial piece, it doesn't really say anything. Stating that he doesn't care about the koran or Iraqi prisoners is immaterial to whether or not we should be fighting the war. What is relevant is that we're spending $4000/second fighting it while bridges in our own country are collapsing. Not a good situation.

At some point in time, we are all going to have to resist Islam with violence. That's just a reality that humanity is going to have to face.

I think invading Iraq was OK. But we've sure ****ed up the process -- why are we rebuilding anything before we have a total surrender in hand?

why was it OK, seriously what was ok about it, Bush manipulated people to believe they had WMD but they didn't, they aren't responsible for 9/11 either, so what reason makes the invasion of Iraq OK with you. I think the basis of going to war was that we believed that there may be wmds there. And congress voted to got to war...yes, even Hillary Clinton, by her own words, said that we were invading to resolve any threat of wmds in Iraq. This is al about the war on terror. Iraq provided training grounds to Al Quaida, and we had to do something I believe. Also, I dont think a man like Bush could sit around for much longer while Saddam was killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people...and I agree with him

wow talk about misinformed dude There were not nearly that many casualties in any of the wars he was involved with. He was most criticized for using chemical weapons on about 5 000 Kurds, which is pretty repulsive, but don’t you know the war vs Iran and Kuwait Iraq was in was funded and encouraged by the US. The weapons used on the Kurds were either bought with the money the US was giving them or weapons supplied by the US.

Now with the presence of the US in Iraq there are a lot more terrorists coming to Iraq looking for battle, and Al-Queida training camps are in a lot more countries than Iraq. So please explain to me again why any of you believe being in Iraq is and was a good decision please.

They did have WMDs. The WMDs were moved to Syria. We have records of massive convoys going into Syria during the runup to the invasion.

FYP. There were hundreds of thousands of Iraqi Kurds killed over the 90's till 2003. Saddam treated Kurdish cities like you would treat cockroaches in your kitchen.

Further, no one denies that the ENTIRE WORLD has a long history of ****ing up the Middle East. But it wouldn't be that way, if it weren't so ****ed up on its own in the first place.

Remember that there's more to the Iraq War than human rights. If we were concerned about human rights, we'd clean up Africa. That place is a mess. Iraq is about total lunatic nutcases with access to an incredible natural resource and the resultant incredible wealth and power it brings to those who possess it. I heard one time that there has been enough money flowing into each oil-producing nation in the middle east to provide every man, woman and child living there in the modern age with $10,000,000 or something i n s a n e like that. Was the money used to fuel a high standard of living for the people of that region?

No, the culture malfunctioned, and continues to malfunction, and breeds the kind of malcontent that leads to fairly large collections of lunatics flying jetliners into buildings.

While none of the above is DEFENSIBLE, we DO have to act to stop them from flying jetliners into buildings. They want to fight. The region has 5,000 years of history of fighting ... whoever ... even themselves. The idea is, rather than let them come to us and kill innocents, let's focus the conflict and take the fight to them. It seems to be working, but in general, has its flaws as a strategy.

I'm out of time to finish this ... but you get the idea.

story

I <3 you buddy, I really do but I'm one of the ones that can't agree with this. It was a tragedy what happened that day there's no doubt about that. As a matter of fact my uncle was at the Pentagon when it was hit. Although he came out unscathed his neighbor wasn't so lucky. All they found of her was a jaw bone and part of her leg. I know what people went through with that. However, I believe that the aftermath of 9/11 was nothing more than a catalyst for Bush to invade the middle east for oil and to make up for daddy not taking out Saddam when he had the chance.

All the war has done is piss off even more people at the USA. We have made no progress over there, and it doesn't matter how long we stay we are NEVER going to get rid of the terror threat. There will always be people twisted enough to believe anything they are told and attack us again. It's a sad state of affairs, but it's something we are going to have to learn to live with. If we get Osama then someone else will take his place, just like when we killed Al-Zarqawi someone else took his place.

I saw a report on CNN today that said that Congress will have spent 1 trillion dollars in Iraq alone within the last four years at the end of the year. We are bombing and fixing communities in the middle east when we can't even fix communities in our own country. In light of the bridge collapse in Minneapolis this week it was stated by the American Society of Civil Engineers that we would have to spend over 9 billion dollars every year for the next 20 years in order to fix all of the structurally deficient bridges in this country. Politicians are now wondering where we can get that kind of money. Well here's a thought Mr. Politicians...how about we stop spending money on this useless war overseas, bring our troops back home, and voila we have cash that can go to fix the bridges that need fixing.

Bridge. Not bridges, bridge.

Media got you on a leash I see. Good luck with that.

why was it OK, seriously what was ok about it, Bush manipulated people to believe they had WMD but they didn't, they aren't responsible for 9/11 either, so what reason makes the invasion of Iraq OK with you. This is beyond me. Don't feed me that it was to save the Iraqies because when the States leave all hell will be let loose over there and things aren't better now than they were with Saddam. The staes don't give a shite about corruption in other countries, they're the ones who armed Iraq in the first place. So please explain to me what made the invasion of Iraq Ok.

This is impressive. You have managed to get everything wrong.

let's see here

- Bush DID manipulate people for an invasion
- Bush DID lie about WMD
- Bush had NO intentions of freeing Iraqis...he wanted oil and to a lesser extent to get Saddam because Georgie Sr. failed to...if you believe otherwise you are fooling yourself
- Iraq was NOT responsible for 9/11
- Things are NOT better than they were before we invaded...as a matter of fact we helped spark a civil war
- We DON'T care about corruption in other countries...we have enough problems here in the USA that should supersede anything overseas

it looks like he nailed every single thing right on the head and if any of this infuriates you then you have learned one of the lessons of life...the truth hurts

At some point in time, we are all going to have to resist Islam with violence. That's just a reality that humanity is going to have to face.

the only people that say this sort of inflammatory crap know little to nothing about islam. just sayin.

does this mean we just blow up everyone entering mosques in the US, too?
