For those of you that use Poker EV or are familiar with Sklansky bucks, I have a question. For the last month, my Sklansky bucks are at $2000, my showdown winnings at $1100 and my actual winnings are at $100. This is through 16000 hands, so I can understand that the difference between my Sklansky bucks and my showdown winnings can just be due to variance, but what possible reasons could be behind the huge difference between my actual winnings and showdown winnings? ... and just how colossally bad am I running right now?

sometimes you put money into a pot and then fold. or lose the hand. you didn't account for showdown losings.

playing around with programs like poker ev and poker grader are great ways to completely **** with your head. they have their uses but do not use them to try to pin poor results on running bad.

how much money you should make or lose if the cards were always dealt out with a perfectly even distribution (might not be the correct stat math geek term but hopefully explains what it).

My understanding is that showdown winnings is your total winnings: your winnings + your losings. I think when you fold on the flop or the turn, those numbers aren't included in that figure and might be why there's some difference between showdown winnings and actual winnings.

That last statement pisses me off. I can admit when I'm playing bad. But to be honest, I've played the best poker this past month I've had since I started in mid-April... although the profit doesn't reflect it at all. Although everyone says it (justifiably or not), these poor results are mostly based on me running poorly. I review all the big pots I win and lose after every session on poker tracker. Sure, there are times where I go on tilt and drop money, but those moments do not occur that often. Most poker EV graphs don't look like mine at all and I was trying to understand why mine looks the way it does.

There may be some merit into what you're saying, although I don't like hearing it... maybe it's about time to have a comprehensive PT review, to see what I might be doing wrong.

i have no idea if you are running bad or playing bad. i was just offering advice from my own experience that using programs like this to try to figure it out is not a great idea. i can see how it didn't come off that way. i meant no harm.

Yeah, I know; I should've given you the benefit of the doubt. This downswing has made me a little sensitive, I guess... it sucks to be basically breakeven for 16k hands, especially at a level that I should be crushing.
