Wife's good friend, Todd Kessler, writes it. ( He also wrote Providence and many episodes of the Sopranos) So she has put it on the Tivo and we watched the first ep last night. I despise Glenn Close so I was not to thrilled plus I have so many other shows to watch that I just don't want to pick up yet another. But being that it is on FX, which means the chance that it gets canceled mid season is slim, I decided to watch it. The writer, Todd, actually is the doorman for anyone who has seen it.
It wasn't too bad. I still despise Close but I like Ted and the other actors. Hopefully watch the new ep that was shown last night this weekend.
Anyone else watching it?

Bump. Yeah I'm watching it. I've liked the first 2 episodes although I do not like the parts where the show a scene from the future then go right back to the present. Also, I find the lead actress Rose Byrne to be incredibly beautiful.

The first episode of this show has just aired down here and I really liked it. Kinda edgy and a little different from your avg courtroom/lawyer show. Look forward to the next episodes.

comes back tomorrow.
what's his face (Seth Bullock (also played the bad guy in Live Free or Die Hard, the Hitman, and the sleasy guy from the Girl Next Door (also Delroy Lindo's partner in Gone in 60 Seconds) should make for a good addition to the cast. oh yea. Tim Olyphant is his name.
I wonder if they'll keep the same format (flashbacks)
be weird for me to not watch it all at once. I had seen a couple random episodes and then I caught a day where they showed every episode and 3/4 watched. then I rented the dvds and twas worth the second watch around

oh how I love the no commercial interruption shows.
quite the number of possibilities of who rose byrne shoots. patty? seems unlikely. seth bullock? maybe. marcia gay harden. we know nothing about her at this point so very hard to say. I think they obviously want us to think it's Patty. seth bullock seems like a good choice though. possibly hired by patty n co to keep an eye on her.
it definitely grabbed me as much as the first episode did last season. somewhat wished I would've just waited till all the shows were recorded so I could eat it up all at once. oh well.

I guess we will see if I will accomplish the very rare "has X posts in a row in the thread of a tv show where X is the number of episodes in that season and each post also corresponds to one episode" feat
one thing I read about somewhere was that William Hurt disliked the way the writers went about the show. he said something like they seemingly "play things by ear" and they'll make edits at the last minute. I'm not sure if he was referring to just lines and stuff or plot points etc but we'll see if this plays out in this season
Marcia Gay Harden looked very good in that blouse which we alllllllmost saw her popping out of. I'll watch again to see if it happens the second time around
I wonder how long they'll make us wait to see who she shoots. right now that is more on my mind than who she actually shoots.
I wasn't able to see what exactly the headline was on the paper in seth bulock's closet thingy. I think it said something about a car crash/hit n run. though that might be my imagination since his wife supposedly died from that though the face on the paper looked to be a man. obviously more going on there and they're doing a good job keeping me guessing
I wonder why william hurt was giving patty's son a weird look

I had seen ads for this show and it looked great so I watched the pilot yesterday. Then I waited for strat to get home, made him watch it with me. Between 6pm yesterday (Sunday) and 2am today (technically Tuesday but I haven't gone to bed yet so it's still Monday) we watched every episode on Hulu. I guess there is a second episode for the second season now which isn't up yet.
I love all the twists and turns in the plot, and how I'm not able to predict a lot of them. I love the way Rose has transformed into this hard bitch, she's such a badass now. I'm thinking the person she shoots won't be Patty, but I'm not thinking it's Olyphant yet. Right now it seems like he will be a new love interest - I mean come on, he's great looking and he has been through the same thing she has. I doubt he is hired but you never know.
It seems like a lot of plots going on at once as opposed to just one big case and the minor stalking thing last season. The Purcell plot, the infant mortality thing, this foundation, Ellen's personal vendetta... I wonder how it's all going to come together. I like that it still has the flashback (or flash forward) format. It wouldn't be the same without it - you need to have these little clues, make the wrong assumptions and then be corrected over time. That's the beauty of the show.

could ****ing do without the ear-raping distorted music and obnoxious color work during the action scenes. I don't remember seeing that in the first ep of s2, so hopefully that shit is a thing of the past. other than that, I like the show and enjoy cruella to the max.

It needs to be obvious when it is the past/future and when it is the present. Also the music gives it atmosphere and it works with me, it makes me tense when they want me to be etc.

oh btw, rose byrne was in Troy. I didn't know that. just saw her get seduced by Brad Pitt while she was trying to kill him. well i've never sat down and watched that movie just seen random scenes on many random occasions which when put together probably make up 75% of the film
episode 2 (which I guess you haven't seen yet? when you wrote that post I mean), will change your thoughts on things obviously. I talked about it above but I'll do it again below.
she says something about them (the person she shoots) lying to her which basically every character has done. patty all the time. tom too. ted dansen. seth bullock's lie revealed this time. apparently some vendetta against frobischer or possibly she is the "eyes" which patty had the old guy keep on her. I guess it's a good thing that it could be anyone.
regarding the music, while I like the Wire and how they don't add things in to make things tense or say "this is when the action is happening" ala Bourne, 24, etc, I like it when those shows do it. I like it here too but it's a bit forced I think.
I still wonder about William Hurt's comments about not liking how they shoot and seemingly how random things are. maybe the writers/producers do that on purpose to keep them on their toes. maybe I'm misinterpreting what Hurt was talking about.
oh. and, if you like Rose Byrne, a movie I recommend is Sunshine. by the guy who did 28 days later. Here's the plot. Astronauts are going to the sun to "restart" it with a bomb. the first 90 minutes are quite good. the last 15 not so much but still worth a watch. has numerous others you'll recognise.

This thread ought to be poppin'. I am thinking it will probably turn out to be sexy-deceiving-grief-counselling-boy that she shoots, but then, I think that's what they want me to think...
Knowing how Patty has hired private investigators to track people before, and uncle Pete or whatever his name is has gone off on his own when he has a hunch, I am amazed that they haven't caught her meeting with these FBI guys a dozen times. They are not very discreet about it. Also, I could not care less about the white FBI dude's relationship problems. No idea why they keep putting that in there, it just makes for tons of awkward, unnatural transitions.

caught up after missing the past two weeks. as far as the white fbi guy, he's one of the writers/creators of the show. my guess would it would either have to be a horrible attempt at making the characters more than just totally shallow or possibly something that will crop up in the future. are they actually fbi or something else? with this show you have to keep that open mind
froby coming back that way was obvious but the right move. it still made me laugh when they did the "reveal" with him being the shareholder.
the bearded guy. the new bad guy (kendrick?). black guy who bought the escalade. all people from the wire. also interesting to see daryll hammond. I always like him in a serious role. well and comedy ones too.

Hmm, I never even considered this. Mr Nye (sp?) introduced those guys to Ellen, they could be associates of his that he is using to keep an eye on Patty. Still, I don't really see what his motivation would be to do that.
