Final Pot: 1000

Anyone raise flop/turn? I have a tight image, and my thinking is that I only get action from a nut flush as I'm showing my hand if I do, so I think I make better money from the overcalls. The only hand that can be the nut flush is UTG+1, and if he has it, the river will get capped, hopefully trapping or dragging along the others.

Shouldn't you not be playing this preflop?

Yeah, kinda hard to argue with that part, but lets just focus on the post flop part please. The reason for my tight image was that this looked like a KILLER hand compared to the rest of the slop I was getting. Anyhoo, no real argument with a fold PF I think.

Yeah, I'm not really qualified to talk about postflop play, lol.

the only real way you're going to make a huge pot (and makeup for the equity you gave up by limping this preflop) is if another player has the A high flush (and hopefully another player has a set).

it sucks with the better being in front of us but i'd still pop on the flop and i don't stop until showdown. a lot of times when you flop a monster lock hand you have the board so crippled that there's not many hands you can get value from, like when you have JJxx and the flop comes JJ2 (whats really going to go to war w/ you), but in this hand there is still the A high and the K high flush that could put in extra bets with you.

getting to possibly 4 bet the one player (isolating and not getting SBs money) on the flop probably makes it close with giving up the larger bet on the turn to protect the backdoor low. (hope that makes sense).

goodluck.

agreed. you don't want a backdoor low getting there on you cheaply here. scooping HU is like getting half 4-way, remember that. (and you can get more bets in HU in spots like these) as for preflop, meh, sometimes i play every hand early in LO8 tourneys, esp those with big pairs, since when they hit, they scoop. if the table is relatively tight, though, you gotta muck stuff like that.

navy, i have your golf clubs. do you want me to send them to you? smile.gif

Raise the flop. Before you do that fold preflop. And before you do that read the SS2 o8 section.

I'm getting better at not putting in too much of my money when I'm behind in this game, but I need to work on getting more in when I'm ahead in situations like this.

I agree the backdoor low would be a heartbreaker, but I really felt I would be giving away the strength of my hand if I popped the flop, and I really hoped someone had the nutflush and would raise it for me. Once that didn't happen, only the UTG+1 could have it, and the turn was out killing a low draw, so I wanted to ensure the overcalls. Besides, I think it looks like I'm playing it like a draw, or maybe a weak flush, so when I raise the river, I'm hoping someone gets stubborn.

play it like you know that somebody has a hand that they will pay you off with. more often than not thats the best way to go about it.
