Hello to all of FCP!

I was recently in Vegas playing at the luxurious Imperial Palace. I had been playing craps all night and getting killed. I decided to buy-in the 2/5 NL game for the last 100 bucks in my poket. I was playing in the game a few hours earlier in the night and the same two clowns were still at the table. So, I decided to make it two clowns and a drunk fool! smile.gif Well, I ran my "hunchkie" up to about $450 in 30 minutes. I was playing super fast and super aggressive seeing almost every hand. A new guy sits down about 1 1/2 hours into the session. He was one of those guys that thought he was to cool for school. So, naturally I wanted to play a big pot with him! He bought in for 300. Well, ten hands after he sat down we played a big one! I was the cut off and he was the button. I raised up to 25 with 8 5 off and he calls. The flop was 3 4 6 rainbow. He bets out 75 and I stick it all in for about 375. He insta calls me with A4. I brick out and end up dumping off the rest of my money a few hands later. What do you think? Good/bad/drunk play by me? Also what do you think about his play?

Since this is your first post, I'll go easy on you in the hopes the others will follow my lead. smile.gif

1) Post these in the NL Strategy section. I'm sure Zach will move it. He's a surly little Canadian alcoholic, so don't take it personally if he acts like a hard ***. Also, don't post results. They will bias the responses you get.

2) I'm sure you had a reason for getting into the 2/5 game at the IP with only 100 dollars. Probably because they never tell you what game they have running and just sit you down at a table. That place sucks. In any case, don't sit in a 2/5 game with only one hunny.

3) Include any reads you have on the players playing.

Okay, now, you come in for a raise with ATC and get your caller. He overbets the pot into you. Most players follow a pattern when they bet out into a raiser. Some players only bet into the raiser with draws. Some only bet into the raiser with monsters. Had you noticed his pattern yet? You said you were playing super-fast. Would this player notice that? Was he observant at all?

I don't hate your play. You're certainly representing a big hand here and you're drawing very live when he calls with his hand. I'd imagine more often than not, you don't get called in this spot and when you do, it's by a set or an overpair.

I guess the first lesson of the Imperial Palace is...never bluff there.

Your avatar rules.

P.S. Are you the same 12gameparlay that won the 11k guaranteed on Bodog the other night? That final table lasted like 10 hands. smile.gif

I feel honored that my first response was from the great Mr. Naismith! To be quite honest I really was not concerned about the guy being observant of my recent plays and all I could really think about was punching his aviator glasses off his ****ing head! Anyways, thanks for the posting advise! I heard room 1768 was where the party has been at for the past 12 days in the Vegas town!
Naismith
Also, if you were the cutoff and he was the button, how did he bet into you?

Room 1768 was the party room. How'd you hear? wink.gif

EDIT: Okay, looks like you check-raised the flop. I prefer betting for the following reasons:

1) You probably name your price to see the turn. Make it 30 and he probably just calls. If he raises, your re-raise all in is a more natural raise and it's a consistent show of strength (pre-flop raise, bet out, re-raised all in).

2) Your check-raise is repping a monster but it's hard to see what monster you have. Are you really check-raising AA or KK here? It just looks like an unusual line to take.

I forgot to put that I checked raised him! Please forgive me, it was my first post! Lets just say that some of the beautiful women from Vegas contacted me and told me the stories of the infamous room of 1768!

There's a $2/5 at IP?
Yeah, never bluff there.
That's the magic of IP.
Oh, and the hand ... check it down until you hit, then shove.
I stayed in room 1769 in February.

They randomly spread 2/5 and don't tell you. You tell them you want NL and then suddenly, it's a bunch of donks playing 2/5.

I'm not honouring any post featuring the casino in question. It is dead to me.

Not too bad, you got your money in good. Preflop is kind of questionable but post flop you are a fave.
