I just watched the re-broadcast of the first episode. Kind of a mish-mish of other PI type shows (Macguyver and the equalizer sprang to mind quickly) but has enough differences to make it worthwhile. The lead carries off a dead pan sarcasm pretty well, which I find quite entertaining. All in all a pretty decent show, especially for summer fare. Hopefully, it'll have some legs.
runthemover
yea. I thought this first episode was not bad. i'll be watching this and hoping they make it worthwhile.

wth is the world coming to when USA has a lot of great pretty good shows.

originals. Burn Notice, Monk, Psych. I hear people like the Dead Zone and 4400 (Never seen those)

reruns. Law & Order SVU and CI, House
Poppy_Hillis
It's funny, that guy was in Hitch, and when I saw him in that I thought to myself he would play a great spy character. I love these kind of characters and thought the show was decent.
ajs510
I used to have a massive crush on Gabrielle Anwar (back in the If Looks Could Kill, Scent of a Woman years), but she really looks like a truck hit her in this show. The accent isn't helping anything either, just irritating.

The show is pretty good though, I kinda like the whole "Spy by Numbers" aspect where he basically teaches us junior terrorists how to wreak havoc. Very MacGyver.
cuddlemonkey
Any show that casts Bruce Campbell as the womanizing drunk is fine by me.
Poppy_Hillis
Just watched the second episode. I like this show a lot.

well she got rid of the accent in the second episode.

I like this show even more after watching the second episode. hopefully it's becomes a recurring trend.

bruce campbell is shining like always. the pants bit was a good laugh for a second.
Jadaki
The only thing really annoying me about this show is the constant stop motion they use in every single shot. If they would lay off that little technique a bit I think it would flow a little better.
ajs510
Did the Mom get recast?

Pretty good second episode, hope the show sticks.
hank213
Tonight was probably the weakest ending I've seen on this show, but I still really like it. I hope it makes the cut.
gkunit20
I like this show. Much better than both 4400 and Dead Zone.
Balloon guy
Good show, I have high hopes for it, but it does have a week premise to say this ultra spy would stay locked to Miami and wait for his clues to the burn notice to come to him during spy conventions and such. Hope they drop this direction and get him to like the free lance side.
two-headedboy
I haven't watched every episode because I'm too lazy to look up when it airs, but I saw the first two and liked it. I have no idea what they're talking about though when they do the spy stuff.

IIRC the reason he's staying in Miami was because they threatened his family if he didn't stay where they could keep an eye on him.

When is this coming back on? I think I remember hearing it was the highest rated USA show or highest in it's time slot or something.

It got picked up for a 13 episode second season, however the writers strike has pretty much put those plans on hold.
Ron_Mexico
I just took a suggestion from someone and started watching this show this week. Of course, USA did me a solid and I've watched 6 episodes this week. I started off just so so on it, then by the middle of the second episode, I was hooked. Excellent show and I do like the spy by the numbers aspect.

Cool show

Cool show

Had you not seen the first season? If not, I would highly recommend it.

I'm glad you dig it. I actually kind of thought you would since the lead has the sarcasm a la VM.

I tried to see if it was on USAnetwork.com and it wasn't. then, I drove to Blockbuster to rent it and they didn't have it either. I'll continue my search, but I don't want to buy it. I'm against buying any DVDs anymore. I will see these eps though

Here ya go big guy. Looks like they have the entire first season but I didn't check all the links.

Enjoy!

I hate watching tv on my computer, but thank you. Chubby chick is on me. Well, not on me, but you know what I mean.
Ron_Mexico
I just watched the first 4 or 5 episodes on Hula. Their format works for me. Now I'm frightened that I'm going to start watching lots of shows from that website. I saw they have a bunch of Arrested Development episodes. I may have to see what all the talk is about, but I'm afraid that I'm not cool enough for school on that one.

Thank you Henry187.

I have to admit, I'm not in love with AD like so many others, but I never really devoted much time to it.

You're welcome Ronald_Guatamala.

RE: BN

Mike is building quite an impressive collection of favors from an extremely diverse group. Pretty soon he'll be the Don Vito Corleone of Miami.
Ron_Mexico
I believe the new episodes start January 22nd.

I watched the whole first season and half the second on Hulu a while back, but on New Year's Eve, USA aired 11 episodes in row from the first season, all except the pilot.

I tivoed then watched them all by the end of New Year's Day.

Yes I have no life.
hank213
Bump. new season tonight.
Ron_Mexico
Michael took $500k from that lady in the new ep and gave the client his $250k back and "some extra" for the kids college fund.

He better of taken a hundred thousand at least. I mean, they do a lot of expensive recon and never seem to take the cash. That's the only hole for me, besides him not being a suspect in numerous Miami shootouts. But seriously, I watched 5 eps this weekend and Sam stayed at a South Beach hotel for 5 or so days, scouting Carla, ordering food and Mohitos, he ordered Johnny Walker Blue a couple of times at the bar while working a con, Fiona ordered "your best champagne".

They should have shown him taking $150k and passing some out to Sam and Fi and keeping some, just to shore up the plot a tad.

I still love the show though.
Ron_Mexico
Only two more new eps this season. Yay. Still loving this show.
pokerinc
loving this season, I feel like it's gotten better. The bank ep was a lot of fun.

Also, considering I think he kept the art worth millions from the ep a few weeks back (is that true?) I think their recon should be financed for a while.

Bruce Campbell makes this show. He's the freaking man.

Ahh, I did forget about the art work, the girl gave him a couple of drawings, but would he sell if off for a quick buck? He had a fat envelope of cash to start this ep.

Bruce Campbell is great. I have to look at what else he's done. He seems familiar but I can't place him.

Army of Darkness is probably the best movie he's done, at least that I can think of off the top of my head.

I'm trying to remember, the guy at the storage place at the end of this weeks ep...where had mike seen him before?

Couldn't place that guy either. I'm sure they'll idiot proof it before next weeks episode.

Listen buddy, you needs to be watching your step in the Burn Notice thread. This show is the shit.

I was surprised that he ditched them. For some reason, I figured he'd keep going with them and work from the inside. I guess he took Victor's advice and just gave up worrying about who burned him.

I also guess that he'll be a full time good Samaritan next season, which starts in June, which is awesome. Although, I'm sure they'll dig up the extra storyline as well.

Yeah I think the whole "What do you think will happen to you if we remove our protection" thing is going to become too dangerous for Mike (to the point they the organization may actively send former enemies back after Mike). Which will lead to him signing back on to work for them and trying to bring it down from within.

I disagree. I thought the ending showed that it was "the machine" that burned him, that it happens to most good operatives, and that he wanted to do his own thing from now on.

I think Season 3 is going to be his former enemies coming after him (and the 5-0, considering he doesn't have fed protection anymore). Not sure what the larger storyline will be, but maybe he hasn't given up looking for the individual that burned him yet?
Ron_Mexico
either way, it's gonna be good.
Ron_Mexico
new season starts Thursday night at 9pm on USA.

If you haven't seen this show, watch it. They are running all of the episodes from start to finish before Thursday. It's a very clever show
hank213
I read a brief preview of the first episode and it appears as if they might widen the setting a bit and start having some scenes outside of Miami. Could be kinda cool.
hank213
The first episode felt a bit rushed, trying to cram too much into too short a time span so they had to skip B to get from A to C in the time allotted, but still pretty good overall.

Last night's was excellent. The bit with same toward the end of the job to get the bad guys to go off was great.
Ron_Mexico
last nights ep was very good

Does he end of up breaking Fi's heart and throwing it in the grumpy yet sexy detective's vajayjay?

I sure hope not. Unless they're looking to end the series because Fi would kill him.
speedz99
I didn't like that ending. I mean, how would it make any sense that management would be anything but grateful? Why would he do anything but leave Michael alone or put him back into action?

Also, the whole "put the superbad guy in a remote prison" thing didn't make sense. You just kill the guy, right?

Anyway, this was the first season of the show that I've watched and in general I enjoyed it.

Well we really don't have any idea what management is going to do yet, since they left the ending so vague. Theoretically they could just leave Michael alone and thank him still. With that said, they have quite a bit of leverage at this point since even though he saved management, he put himself in a position where he needs management to keep him from serving a long prison sentence. Obviously the "right" thing to do would be to free Michael and leave him alone from now on, but it isn't hard to believe that "management" is not the most stand-up moral human being.

Plus on top of everything, they have to keep the show's sense of confusion. The show loses a layer of complexity if Michael just becomes a dude who helps people randomly and isn't trying to figure out all this burn crap on the side.

With all that said, I think the show is in decline from the earlier seasons, but still very entertaining to me anyway.

I think I'm going to try to find a way to watch the first few seasons (without having to but the DVDs). I also need to watch the first two seasons of Psych.

I remember watching that and loved it when they showed the commercial as a "hint" to the contestants. That commercial seriously couldn't be any less help in letting you know what the show is about.
