Not exacally the top 6 forward I was hoping they would pick up this week. See there is talk that Eric Cole and Pitkanen are rumured to be going to Edmonton is a 3 way deal. Their division just keeps getting tougher and tougher and they wont win it next season without picking up a 30 goal winger and some grit for the 3rd and 4th lines. Maybe Corey Schneider isnt the juicy trade bait I was thinking he was.
PS. Dave Nonis please dont give Scott Gomez 6 mill a year.

Josh Plummer on hockeybuzz.com posed an intresting scenario(not a rumour just opinion he states) that the Canucks should sign Todd Bertuzzi. I think he burned his bridges his last year here but they have no room to get an impact free agent. If they could sign him to a 1 year deal in the 2.5 mill range(not out of the question with all the question marks) what would evryone here think about that move. Clearly it is a huge gamble chemistry wise but when you have no offence and no cap room you gotta be creative. If the Naslund/Morrison/Bertuzzi line could do just 70% of what they did in there prime they would be a above average offencive team with the Sedins blossoming. As it stands now with the Canucks and there confrece if one of the Sedins or god forbid Luongo goes down with an injury there on the outside looking in.

Where is the offence. Issbister has 1 20 goal year in his career. I seriously dont like there chances in the division and confrence unless a big trade is in the works. I know there was no money for a top tier free agent but something big needs to be done. If all those 1 goal games start going the other way next year its lottery time. Maybe its status quo till next year when about 15 mill in cap room opens up.

Team 1040 is reporting a Bill Geurin rumour.
I am glad the Canucks aren't breaking the bank this off season. Why commit a large part of your cap to a mediocre player. Signing one big name isn't going to solve the Canuck's scoring problems by itself. I would have liked the Canucks to take a chance on someone like Ouelett or Perrin, but they have a few people in the farm with giving a chance to. Isbister is a fringe player, but he adds some size and grit, which the Canucks could have used against the Ducks.

Sure hope they dont make that deal. elias has 6 years remaining at a cap hit of 6 mill a year. I belive he only had 60 points or so so 6 mill is alot of money especially if you are paying him till he is 36. Now if they want to talk about Parise thats diffrent. New Jersy is rumoured to be intrested in Schneider.

hmm something must be up with there d. good job on resigning Bieksa but Millers signing has me wondering if the Ohlund rumours are true. Ohlund,Salo, Mitchell, Bieksa, Miller, Kraijchek, Edler, Bourdon, seems kinda crowded. or maybe Miller was to good of a bargain to pass up and depth is a good thing. deffinatly cant say that about there forwards though.

I've been busy through the summer...mostly drinking myself too stupid to read the forum.
Looks like I haven't missed much though. The Nucks are soooo quiet.
Part of me wants to give most of the group another chance though. Prior to losing to the Stanley Cup champions the Nucks were scoring fine in 2007 and when they didn't put up a lot of goals they had a strong defense and Lui to get the Ws. I'd like to watch another year without major changes and see if Nassy can be all that he can be. If he's on a separate line from the twins and does well it'll be hard for opposing teams to shut down two big lines.
I don't mind landing a cool forward but I don't think it's all doom and gloom otherwise.

apparently Linden is gonna sign a 1year 750k deal next week(according to Eklund so take it with a grain of salt). i was starting to worry about the situation because of Nonis being non-commital when discussing his future with the team. I sure hope they have a deal up there sleaves to get some scoring to contend because I have never wanted to see a guy get a cup more than Linden and his window of oppurtunity is quickly slamming shut.
also it looks like Forsberg will not consider Vancouver for next season

Bump. 2 months without a post in this thread. I was pumped for hockey at the end of last season but right now I am having a hard time getting back into the NHL. that will probally change next week. If Luongo cant play 70 games this year we are in trouble! There D is deffinatly above average, but if they consider Isbister and Ritchie a signifigant upgrade to the front end they are mistaken. Prediction 3rd in division(behind Calgary and Colarado) and 8th in the confrence. we will have to wait till the 15 mill in space opens next year to see any signifigant upgrade to there scoring.

7. Nashville/St. Louis(still on the fence there)
8. Canucks

Goals: D. Sedin
Assists: H. Sedin
+/- W. Mitchell
Most improved: Kesler

hmm...I have a feeling Nassy will be back on top of team scoring. he didn't have a great season last year and whether he plays with the twins or Mo I'd be surprised to see another lackluster season. if it happens again I don't see Naslund in a Nucks jersey for 2008-2009. Same for Mo.
