Full Version: Giving Up Cards For Value Bets?

I don't know how else to put it. I bet pot and get all 5 at the table to call. I get my miracle flop, and I know at least one of them has an A, so I try to value bet it down. Should I have bet more on the turn? Or am I destined to lose here? If a mod could please convert this for me, I'd greatly appreciate it; apparently I'm to stupid to do it right.

Converted. All you do is copy and paste it. It took me 2 seconds. Next time, please figure it out before posting, it's not hard.

Also, post in the appropriate forum please.

I bet more on the turn, about 50-60.

River is read dependent. Your river bet probably looks weak and if villain is capable of bluff raising the scare card than I think you should definitely call.

button has a 3...I think.

Ok, maybe you can help me then. I cut and paste my UB HH into the field. Then I put in my screenname in the 'your name on the pokersite' spot. I then type 'Hero' for my alias. I click the output to FCP. I click submit. It says:

I’m sorry, but The hand history you are using is not supported. Please leave a comment with the hand history you would like to convert, and I will include it in the list of supported sites.

You know what i'm doing wrong? How much of the HH am I supped to cut/paste? I have to be doing something wrong here....

Bet more on the turn as that bet is just asking for a suckout, obv fold the river since villian holds A5
Acid_Knight
Betting more on the turn or river will simplify your life greatly.

7 preflop, 33 on the flop, and 88 on the turn.

after you paste in the HH, you have to type in "powered by ultimate bet" near the top after (No Limit Hold'em)

it's really strange but it worked for me

You pretty much let every hand on the table catch you.

Many times in NL, we want to take the pot on the flop and not wait for the river and a show down.

"Giving Up Cards For Value Bets" is your title - so I think your general question is that is it ok to underbet the pots to let your opponents catch up a little. I think in this spot, there are no hands you want to catch up to you. Your hand has to be a pretty strong monster for you to give up cards for value bets. Like if you flopped quads in this situation, I think playing this line is great. Otherwise, you want to protect the crap out of your AK.

I don't consider this a miracle flop by the way wink.gif I think of miracle flops for AK as: 10JQ rainbow or AAK or KKA coordinated when others have flopped slightly weaker hands than you.

lol

You don't have to do the "your name" thing. or put hero, it'll do that automatically. That could be the issue, I've never touched that. Just ensure format is FCP. stacls are shown for NL hands (check the box), paste the full HH in and press "convert" or submit or whatever.

Also, you need to copy the entire HH, every single character. Whatever you copied and pasted in your OP was good enough for me to do it.

It's so easy, but it's always semi-tricky at first. As soon as you get it a few times, you'll be laughing about not getting it before. Like, it seemed overwhelming to me at first, but I could do it with my eyes closed now, lol.
