After watching the first episode of this show I though to myself , Curb your Enthusiasm is back. Yeah. The show Blows so far. I think I've already seen "Touched by and Angel/ Highway to heaven" and I don't think I need to see this Starmanisque take on it. I mean the guy even looks like a young Jeff Bridges. I can see it now Austin Nichols goes to David Milch and asks, "I just don't know how to approach my character, why does he repeat everything said to him and pantomime everyones actions?"
David Pulls out a copy of the Starman DVD and says, "Wach This....I know I did...."

Boston Globe's review...
QUOTE
Watching HBO's surfing drama "John From Cincinnati" is like sitting through a bad play at a tiny experimental theater.... In short, if Gary Busey were a TV series, he would be "John From Cincinnati."

Boston Globe's review...
I'm not saying Heroine, but some type of Chemical assistance is needed when viewing this show.

I watched the second episode, still hasn't grabbed me. The "oh crap moment" that was supposed to grab everyones attention seemed really predictable. I'll watch the next few, because some HBO shows take about a half season to really kick into gear. But I read some reviews of the 3rd episode and I'm not hopeful.

yeah. the point of it is lost on me, and i don't car enough to watch every episode to find out. the characters don't draw me in, except for john himself. i'll be content to find out on the interenet in a few months what tbfd is.
and oh yeah, CURB IS BACK!

Is anyone else still following this?
I think they lost me last night. This show has way to many problems. First it makes no sense, second the side characters are better than the main characters and last... they write the show like it's Deadwood and it doesn't work. The characters sound stupid talking the way they do 90% of the time.

i think they characters both curse and yell far too often for anyone's own good.
and last night's episode was by far the weirdest.

I have been trying like hell.. but yeah I am lost..
It is not making much sense to me..
The only thing enjoyable to me still is the fact that Keala Kennelly is on a TV show. I have been a fan of her surfing for quite a while.

Kai helps my Father dump outQUOTE
"The important point that I'm trying to make is that storytelling has nothing, whatsoever, to do with logic. Logic is a limping stepchild of the true processes of the spirit. It's an illusion. It's a defective little parlor trick. Associations are the way that we perceive. Electrical connections caused by the juxtapositions of experience. That's the way we are really built, and storytelling takes into account that truth."

I have watched the first 3 episodes in a row and I enjoyed it immensely(sp?). I have always enjoyed shows that feature character driven everyday life intertwined with the supernatural (Northern Exposure- for example). I am hoping this gets the chance to develop and grow. Just my .02cents
