Well their starting off the third series with an
all-star competition. I think it's kind of cool, and I personally think season one will blow season two out of the water. I don't know why, but I got the impression that the top chefs (eww poor choice of words) from season one were way more seasoned that season two.
Anyway, I'm eager. Are you?

I am eager. Just started watching the Next Food NEtwork Star last night but it holds no candle to Top Chef. Plus I think Hell's Kitchen will be starting soon as well.

I'm not a big fan of reality tv in general, but Bravo does it right !
I'll be watching Top Chef season 3.
I agree that season 1 chefs have it all over the season 2 crew.

3-1. Dave was the weak link and deservedly was the only loser from Season 1. Nice to see Tiffany realize that she was an annoying whore and fixed that. Harold is still the man. Dave is such a freaking drama queen.
"Season 3 people are out there so be ready to deal with that"
WTF? Seriously, you are no better than they are Twitchy.

Season 1 had much better cooks than season 2. For some reason the people from season 2 just seemed to act so young compared to the season 1. Yeah I know there was a lot of drama in season 1 also but I just cant explain it.
Really looking forward to season 3.

I don't know about anyone else, but when I saw the look on people's faces when they showed the ingredients, I could tell you 3 out of the 4 people who would be in the bottom

yea. season 3 cliff and vietguy are definitely the top runners. But, they haven't really shown a lot of the other players, so the predictions are worthless. This might be boring, but I feel like they're setting up them as the final 2, so I hope they're not stringing us along.
Specifically about episode 2, I think they should have sent both mohawk chick and mr. clean home. She didn't "complete the task" and he made critical mistakes in both elimination challenges.
I'm rooting for mr. northwest and tall guy. they both seem like they are swinging for the fences on every challenge

it's always interesting getting further into the season. just when you think someone is doing well they screw things up. I'm not impressed by any of the ladies so far sadly (in terms of cooking) as for other things I don't know yet.
Mr. Hat (formerly mr. northwest) seems to be the "Ilan" type. specialty chef who can do very well within their specialty (Ilan: Spanish cuisine Mr. Hat: seafood)
tall guy is taller than I thought. I laughed when I saw him standing side by side with his fellow bottom foursome.
I'm thinking we all may have overrated season 3 cliff. what's he done so far? He was in the bottom 3 of a quickfire (maybe twice? was he in this latest? I forget) and an elmination challenge. He won the first. He hasn't really brought much to the table other than that.
I'll probably have other random thoughts later. I love this show.

They were in the competition, they just were not shown throughout the episode. Except you can see the big guy that was in the fight in the previous ep. clapping when the short guy won the elimination challenge.

Yeah i started think that "Mr. Hat" was turning out to be like Ilan, and i really hope that doesn't turn out to be the case.
But dont start knockin Cliff quite yet. Its only been 3 EP. He one the first one, was in the bottom the second, and if i remember right he was just middle of the pack last night. If he can do what he did in the first EP he has a great shot at winning this thing.
And FWIW Im glad that "I miss my daughter" lady was eliminated. I didnt like anything she brought to the table.

episode 4 discussion below
kinda boring episode. I always feel bad when people leave because they fail in pastry. not that I know anything about cooking or anything. I find Hung to be very funny. a couple times he has questioned the decision during the quick fire. the one last night was awesome. editing probably screwed it up what really happened, but
Hung: "creamy and sweet go together"
Judge: "It just didn't work quite right"
Hung: "So you're saying creamy and sweet don't work?" "I called him out"
Way to go Hung!!!
I was sad to see relatively hot chick #2 go, but at least relatively hot chick #1 is still there. hopefully her performance in the elimination challenge doesn't carry over to the next episode.

Chubby had his ups and downs throughout this. When he left you get the feeling that he has something to prove. The kind of person maybe you'd want to have on your "team" in the finale.
Tall man has put himself forth into the top...uh...chefs in this competition. You don't see him make mistakes often and is seemingly very thoughtful about what each challenge is really about.

Don't you think that if Joey and Howie were paired together that they would have taken down this challenge? It was a stupid challenge, as ridiculous as the one in the first season where they had to microwave their dishes to the group of women by the pool or the stupid quick fire from last season where they got their ingredients from a vending machine.
I wish they would concentrate more on the upscale and I am sure the judges would appreciate that as well.
Thanks for linking Tom's blog... good reading. I am now going to go read the rest of it.
I am going to miss Joey. I loved the dynamic between he and Howie.
