RIVER 9.75 BB 2-handed

I might as well have 88 here, except for the slight chance he has AJ or AQ and hits a Q, having QQ on this board vs a capper is no better than 88, right?
Well, I mean post flop, TT certainly slows down right?

Is this AK or AQs or some stupid hand enough to call down after flop 3-bet?
Should I raise the flop? Should I use the info when 3-bet?

should I stop posting?

(20 hands on villain, nothing really, a bit passive stats)

My standard line is to cap the flop, and call down if he leads turn, otherwise value bet the turn. Tough decision if he raises, but it could be AJ, QQ, KJ enough.

I think preflop, given that his raise is from LP, he's giving you less credit, so he could have capped with a wider range. Some players do that.

Thinking about this a bit more, I don't hate your line.

My line above is better for KK, AA, where we have a couple more hands he could have that we beat.

Here, we don't beat as much as I originally thought.

I like your line.

I play it the same with an overpair to the board. Hopefully you can snap off AJ, or KJ, and hopefully they are not hearts.

Flop raise is OK, and once raised I slow down too.

i could see playing 88 the same way here, fwiw

last night I went back to EXCEL and put him on ranges thru pf and flop and used "weights"., comparing to effective odds
It shows he only need AK a few times to make calling down ok, even when you consider you get out drawn sometimes.
As you get closer to river and reduce the chance he is still betting a worse hand on the river, you also have to be correct less often.

But, if he's very passive, it can be a fold. And I'd need lots of hands, as I find passive just = bad until I see several hands with my eyes or at least 150 in PT

People play AK so fricken weird lately.

Like coldcall preflop and then raise/cap a low flop, I DON'T UNDERSTAND DONKEYS.

So, it's pretty much just Zach and Actuary left in the limit section huh? wow...

Anyway, couldn't you raise the turn and fold to a reraise? Or even some of the time get a free showdown when he just calls the turn? Just curious what your thoughts are on this. I took a break from poker for a few months so I may just be very rusty. *shrug*

yeah, ther are a few others swinging by iregularly. (plus Zach feels sorry for me. I still need help tongue.gif)

I think at this level, the preflop and flop defined our hands well enough that I'm not ahead enough to raise the turn.
I don't really care to get a "free SD" by paying the same BB as calling down, if I fold the best hand 1/8 times.
Plus, lots of times this typew of player (who 3 bets the flop with AK) will put in a BB on the river for me, essentially charging himself.

Not just addresing your thought here Ruca becasue I know you got it going on; but it seems a lot of times our lines are designed to make sure that if we are going to go to showdown, that we do it with the best hand. I have more of the atttude: "We will have the best hand often enough given the pot, I'm not going to try to outplay myself to make good folds, or to give my opponent information so that he won't fire another bullit with AK."..you'll see this theme all the time with me, in contrast, I think to some other regulars
