  1. 1-5 means you can bet anywhere from 1-5 dollars. Now, this is the tricky part... sometimes the betting is capped at 5. So if you bet $5, no one can re-raise you. I think this is rare, and I've never seen it, but I have a few friends (2), that said that this was the situation at there home casino.Normally it means you can bet or rasie anywhere in the 1-5 range. If I bet $3, you half to raise at least 3, al-la no limit rules, but no more then $5.I personally, think my chances are better at playing slots then they are playing 1-5 stud with no ante.
  2. he had a 3 and a 6,so, he had 8c,7c,6c,3s.He flopped a gut shot, bottom pair, and an 8 high flush. On the turn he hit a second pair.As it turned out, he was dead to 3 cards, since the 5c would have given me a higher flush. He probably thought his 2 pair and flush draw were good on the turn and back-doored a straight. I never would have made that call though.
  3. I don't really know what I'm asking, come to think of it,I pushed all-in on the turn, which was the remaining 60 some dollars I had, he immediatly called with his remaining 40 dollars, the river came a 5, and he turned over a 7 and an 8 for a 4-8 straight. This should be in the bad beat forum I guess. I think my real question is,Should I have not even played this hand?Is this an automatic fold in the small blind with so many potential callers?Or, did I play this fine, and chalk it up to Do-Do happens?thanks

  5. Stud 8 or better has a quailifier on all low hands that they be better (worse) then an 8.So the worst low hand you can have is 8,7,6,5,4. if you have 9,4,3,2,A, it doesn't count as a low hand.Stud Hi/Lo has no quailifier, you can win with a K low. It is also much harder to win money.Stud 8 is generally called Hi/Lo because true Hi/Lo isn't played much anymore. But most internet poker sites are wrong when they list that they have stud or omaha hi/lo games, since they are all Stud and Omaha 8 or better.later,Noah
  6. Well, OK, let's try to break this down into a bunch of questions,What are good starting hands for Razz?It depends. In Razz you must pay attention to the cards that are dead. More so then in any other form of poker. Generally, you want 3 cards to an 7. You can get away with an 8 if its a smooth 8, something like A,3,8, if there are plenty of live cards. So, ask yourself what cards are live? That is almost as important as what is in your hand. You can play hands witha buried junker, (A,K)3 only if cards are super live, and the other two cards are excellent. Also, seeing your cards out is
  7. nemadison wrote:2-7 triple draw is always played limit. If you're talking about TD on UB, then you're right. If you're talking about TD in general, it's also played spread limit.I was unaware that it was played spread limit. Is this common, or is it just a regional oddity? Like Pot-Limit 7 card stud.Really though, I've never heard of spread limit triple draw. Interesting.
  8. UB is the only site I know of that offers 2-7, or A-5 for that matter.2-7 triple draw is always played limit. Regualr 2-7, single draw (Kanas City Lowball) is usually played no-limit. A-5 single draw (Cailfornia Lowball) is usually played limit. They're exceptions to that, but triple draw is always played limit. The betting structure is like that of limit hol'em. 5/10$2 small blind$5 big blind#5 first daraw$10 2nd and 3rd draw.I would like to see more sites, namely full tilt, offer a 2-7 and a-5 game.
  9. this is an idea I came up with a few weeks ago, I've tried it with some decent success, but not the kind I was hoping for.Don't play the cards you have, play the cards you wish you hand. The most important concept in razz, are up cards. What do you need, what do you want to avoid. while this is important in 7-card stud, it is not near as important as it is in razz. I'm sure we all have stories of starting out with 3 to a staright flush, catching 4 to a staright flush, then not being able to chase down a pair of Jacks. This is not the case in razz, since nobody has a made hand until 5th s
  10. I'm sorry, I don't quite understand what you are saying. So, we have the bring-in, a 5 raises, an 7 calls, and another 8 calls, you have (23)A, are you saying you wouldn't re-raise in this situation? I think you would, but it was just unclear. in that situation, I would re-raise, and hope that the 5 re-re-raises to make the 7-8 call a double bet.The way I've always thought of starting hand is Razz, as compared to 7 card stud is.3 cards to a 5 - concealed pair 10-A3 cards to a 7 - split pair 10-A3 cards to a 9 - split pair 6-92 cards under 5, 1 concealed junker - Concealed pair 2-7. big door ca
  11. when do you want to limit the field in Razz and when do you want many players in the pot?when is OK to raise or re-raise pre-flop? It seems to me that since Razz is a drawing game, that you should always be trying to limit the field. Like playing big pairs in 7 card stud. Is this correct? what are the exceptions? Thanks,Noah
  12. I love razz. and will do my best to get something going
