There will be representation in Philly on Lindros jersey retirement night next week. Otto and I will be at the game. Flying in on the day and flying back the next morning. We are going with a good friend of ours who is a huge Lindros fan.

Glad you won! I'll probably be scalin back the volume for the playoffs, since I never feel too confident on short slates, but we'll see how I feel about my lineup once the weekend rolls around.

After a $7 freeroll win in week 2, I finished the regular season with $915 in my account.

progression went something like this: 7/15/30/50/100/50/100/200/300/400/500/150/300/500/700/900. Only had 2 losing weeks, but 3 losing lineups, as I lost the thanksgiving slate and the main slate in week 12.

another gambly thing that I haven't been posting about but may as well jinx it and let you guys sweat with me too:

I think I mentioned at some point that I am in a "3 strikes" NHL survivor pool. You pick 1 game each week, can't pick the same team twice, and you get 3 strikes. third wrong pick eliminates you. I went 0 for 2 in the first 2 weeks of the pool, but have since reeled off 10 straight correct picks. There are now 9 people left out of about 200 that started and all of us are on our final strike. I have survived 3 overtimes so far (2 OT winners, 1 shootout win)

payouts are:

1st $3000
2nd $1000
3rd $500
4th $100
5th: $50

My pick this week is NJD vs. Buffalo on Friday night.

here is a link to the google doc for the pool that shows past picks etc.. https://docs.google....G2ws/edit#gid=0

Looks like 3 people eliminated tonight on some questionable decisions. Particularly the guy who picked St. Louis to beat Nashville. If New Jersey wins on Friday, good chance we could be in the money this week.

played the yearly boxing day poker tournament yesterday. 60 runners, $250 buyin, came 6th for $540. $3700 up top, too bad. Was a decent structure for most of it with 15k starting chips and 30 minute levels, but the final table was a crapshoot. ended up shipping 94k at 10k/20k with QT and running into KK.

totally forgot to post this, but last week (week 15), a good buddy of mine came in 3rd place in the Draft Kings Milly maker for $40,000. He was 4 points back from first. He had Jimmy Garopolo, and they got the ball back with like a minute left in the game, and he threw for the end zone with 30 seconds left, just beyond the outstretched hand of Marquise Goodwin, that would have won him a million dollars.

5 in a row. 4 without Matthews.

Otto is on a trek with a bunch of York U guys in Montreal this weekend. They hope to get tickets for the game.

100 York U students went to Montreal. Only 6 guys went to the game. 4 of them already had tickets except for Otto and someone else. The scalper wanted $200 for the tickets but Otto got him down to $150. He told me that they had an unreal experience at the game and the guy Otto went with said the ticket was worth every single penny. Looks like Otto has a new buddy.

Also forgot that students are generally poor. They ate at food courts and fast food. Otto never got to experience the restaurants in Montreal but they did go and see the nightlife.

The funny thing was that they had 4 to a room. In Otto's room it was 3 guys and a skinny Russian girl. She got angry that Otto got a rollaway bed since it took alot of space. She bolted to stay with friends and they never saw her again.

We had an amazing experience today. There is a local business owner who is also a pilot, and he recently started a program where he’ll take kids with special needs up in a tiny 4-seater plane. Well, today Owen had the chance, and it was incredible. He got to sit right up front in the co-pilot seat, wearing a headset/mic and holding the steering wheel just like a real pilot. The (real) pilot was incredible with him, spending so much time explaining and showing him things, addressing him as “captain” every time and just being all-around astonishingly kind and generous. He even has a person with him to take pictures of the whole event, though he insists on being the one to pick out his favourites to post online.

We actually thought he was just a very kind pilot who was probably getting some sponsorship from the airline company. Only when we looked him up later did we find out he is actually the owner of a great local pizza chain, and is actually funding the entire thing out of his pocket, including the photographer, runway fees, fuel costs, etc. And he does it ALL himself, including setting up appointments, texting me this morning to update me on wind conditions, etc.

The Leafs play Philly on Jan 18th on Lindros retiring night. My buddy is a huge Lindros fan and wants to go.

I am iffy because I am not sure if I want to make the trek. However if I do go, Otto will of course be tagging along with me. The casino is down the street and as you know, I will make a trek over to it. I than thought Otto can't go but he will be able to at midnight. He turns 21 on Jan 19th.
