I couldn't help but notice that the 'breaks' had been changed. I think it's spelled brakes.freak

Party used to pop up a window to me all the time... every hour and 29 minutes. then I stopped playing there.... Came back a few months ago and it stopped. Maybe my play changed.... or maybe they decided I wasn't a bot who knows....

question for you guys....the notion of betting on the flop is that you were the pf raiser correct? With it being a decent size pot, you don't wnat to simply check.... what if you had something as weak as 99 or 88 ( you'd likely be in later position for these mind you )... would you bet those on th flop if it was checked to you?Also... if you bet/fold... by the time you have 4-5 players and a pf raise in the pot, plus your bet, then even a raise, you are getting a fairly large pot.... how do you let go of that pot there for one more small bet?thanksalways learning....freak

marginal pair advice on the flop and beyond....

that'd be great if someone could. I have read SSHE, and I have learned a lot, but I think I need a discussion on how to properly apply it to my game -
Hey guys,I notice that I'm over playing marginal pairs at low limit holdem (which is all I play). Hoping to get some advice. Let's say I have a mediocre pair J9s (late position - not necessarily the button) unraised preflop. flop comes down:1) QJ5 rainbow2) J74 rainbow3) 973 rainbowmy thoughts are that being in late position, I'd bet them for value if it was checked to me, hoping to narrow the field on a small bet. If bet to me, I'd fold them, but I can see where each may have some strength against someone trying to steal a pot on the flop, and no preflop raising.Obviously one element left

oh I realize it's a matter of odds, I just was looking to the article I've seen referenced here in the past. If anyone has a link, I'd be interested in reading it.freak

I remember reading about an aricle that talked about not folding on the river when you are certain you are beat.... Can somone point it out to me.thxfreak

Hey all,It's interesting that you feel this way about LJ's book. I tried using Sklansky's Adavanced HE book, but I found it was putting so much money into the pot on pre flop bets that never hit. I also find the advice in AHE very disjointed. I've read it a few times and I find so much of what they write to be contradictory. I've stayed away from SSHE for that purpose. I'll get it, read it, and try it out.As for the overcards being a losing situation, unless lucky.... I tend to agree. but man I hate raising with AKs only to fold it down on the flop because I didn't get a piece of it.O

hey, first off, I'm new here. Been reading the forums a little bit.I've been playing online for a little bit. I've been at pp.com playing the $0.5/$1 tables and do ok. I've been tracking my play, and over the last week, I've put in 38hrs of play. In that time, I've also realized a -$5.60 on my bankroll. There are times when I've been up quite a bit, but the last 13 hours of play have been very bad. No cards, cards I do get, I get drawn out drawn, or have to fold due to a hand that doesn't fulfill it's potential.Watching my stats, I'm regularly seeing about 22% of the flops and winnin
