If they had a set, they're probably going to call (tough decision, no doubt) anyway so why put them in on the flop when they're 3:2 dogs, when you could put them in on turn as a 4-1 dog? Calling here on the flop almost guarantees you more chips on later streets. What if Bonetti is betting 4-5 here and makes his straight on the turn? He'll almost definately pay off some reasonable bets as long as the board doesn't four flush. (just an example) Do I want to put myself in what position? Having the nuts and people most likely having to hit runner runner to beat me? Uh, Yes. Even more reason to

This is from tonight in the $5k NL event. One player to go before the final table. Chip Counts:2 John Henningan $~280,000 4 John Bonetti $~270,000 8 Gavin Smith $~170,000This just doesn't seem right to me. Hennigan flops the nuts, has a bet and a call in front of him and he pushes for something like 250 more into a pot that can't have more than $60-70k in it? I don't get it. This seems like the perfect time to get more chips and set yourself up very nice for the final table. For Smith to flat call here he probably has something like the K

I disagree. There's no reason to risk half your stack at this point in a tournament on a coin flip (at best, even bad players wake up with monsters). In tournament poker sometimes you just have to lay down the best hand "for the greater good". There's still alot of play left in the game and at ~5400, you have a decent stack left and can probably find a much better spot, especially if you know this guy will push any ace. Although, 8-8 has been nothing but horrible to me lately so I figure I'm biased in my opinion ;P

The point isn't to hit the heart, its to take the pot right there. The heart is a backup.

is it possible to turn $10 into $10000 online???

I won my seat to this years main event for $2.20. So yeah, its possible. -
Thanks to those who responded. I'm surprised some people say fold.My thoughts are that since its basically a winner take all event, I think I HAVE to call here. If i fold i'm down to ~725k and the BB has an easy 1.6 mill for heads up. If I call and am wrong, its "only" ~500k to ~1.8 mill. If I call and am right that he only has trips, I take a commanding lead and an awesome shot at winning the seat. Not to mention the pot odds. Well, I called and he had A-6. I took some guff from the rail and a couple friends about just calling in that spot, but I don't see how I can raise on that board.Looki

This is an easy call to see what the turn brings. If it's a diamond check-fold if you sense strength, if its a blank fire out a pot sized bet and see what happens. There's no sense in risking 3000T for a 625T pot unless you absolutely know he's folding. You don't have the nuts and could be drawing dead already. I disagree. I don't know about you but I really don't like leaving 3/5ths of my stack up to fate. Especially in this stage of the tournament when I don't have to yet. A fairly strong bet on the turn if a brick hits will accomplish the same goal if he's drawing (assuming hes not a tot

It was free...sort of. Bugsys runs a 3 round promotion where every day there is a couple $2 Round 1 tournaments. Top 5 from each of those gets thier share of that tournaments prize pool plus a free entry into a Round 2 tournament. There's 8 $10 Round 2 events each weekend where the top 4 get invites into one of 4 Round 3 tournaments. If you place in the top 4 in 4 seperate Round 2s you can play all 4 Round 3s. Each round 3 winner gets paid entry into the wsop main event. That's how Mattias Andersson won his way into the 04 wsop. http://www.bugsysclub.com/club/poker/wsop-2005.htm for more info.

Situation: WSOP ME satellite at BugsysClub on Sunday. 235 entrants, 10k in chips each. 20 minute levels. 10k seat + $700 in cash for 1st, 2nd gets $450, 3rd $300.7 hours later its down to final 3. Blinds are 8k/16k with a 500 anteI'm in the SB with about 1 mill, Button is shortstack with 300k and BB has about 50k in chips less than me. (all estimates from memory as i'm unable to get the HH, but believe me, its still very fresh in my head). Both are very good TAGs with very good instincts.Button makes it 55k to go. I look over and see a shiny 4 3 . I Call and BB Calls. Yey, we get to see a

As-Ad VS J-J (not sure of suits)on the turn the board had a J and 3 spades. In live games, to eliminate some variance in "races" they'll agree to run some cards twice. I'm not sure why J-J agreed to run it twice, but he did. The first time they ran it, the set of Jacks held up. The second time a spade fell, giving A-A a flush, so they just split it.It kinda confused me why JJ would agree since A-A only has 11 outs on the river. it doesn't seem +EV for JJ to run it twice. maybe i missed something on the board? -

They had a $400 - $800 game on tonight that was pretty interesting. Jerry Buss (Lakers owner, made the final table in a WPT event a couple years back) has got to be the biggest fish in the games he plays. Calling bets to the river with 2nd pair and sometimes just ace high. A funny hand I caught just as i turned it on:Jerry Limps in MP with A-6o, CO raises with 99, BB and Jerry callFlop comes down 9-8-x rainbow, check, check, CO bets, BB folds and Jerry calls (?)Turn is 10, CO bets again, Jerry calls.River is a 7. Jerry checks, CO bets, Jerry raises, you could see the CO sigh but calls.Jerry sh -

Having two friends right beside each other doesn't automatically means they're cheating. I can't see how having someone right beside would give you any edge anyway. I figured the point of collusion was to sandwich people in between your bets and you can't really do that when your partner is sitting right beside you.
