My friends and I regularly have cash games in North Alabama, but they are rarely big stakes. There used to be a lot of tournaments in Tuscaloosa, and there are a few card rooms scattered around town on the down low.

The likelihood of him beating you there is very slim with no preflop raise...I'd be raising like there's no tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm just calling the flop, but after that set flops, I'm raising, and after the boat comes, I'm capping. I might lose my money, but most people I play with will raise A-J or 88, and I'd probably fold the threes to a raise.

I'm not all that great at Limit, but I think I'd have probably played it like you did...I definitely wouldn't have three bet AT, position or not, preflop.

So...you didn't bet anything...until the river...when you bet $85.00 to take down $1.00...Fair enough...I probably would've put in at least one bet after hitting the straight flush, and tried to get him to put a little more money in the pot...That way, he might be a little more willing to call a larger bet on the river...However, If you'd been at each other's throats all night, and he checked this all the way to the river, I'd say he probably isn't gonna call anything bet at him right there, and your straight flush, pretty as it may be, is just gonna be one of those occasions where you win alm

I agree, as I ran into close to the same problem in a $10 SNG on PokerStars...I raised Preflop 5Xbb w/ AsKs from the Button, everyone folds except UTG...Ac6d4h flop,UTG bets, I raise, UTG reraises, I call.Turn comes a 7s...UTG bets out, and I move all in...Based on his previous play, I judged that he either had A-Q, A-K, or A-J, and I thought I wanted a call....He showed A-2....Complete and utter domination...River...2h
