the worst structure I have ever seen is at a local cardroom6000 in starting chips 1 add-on of 1500 chips20 minute levels for the first 3 levels and then the ante levels are 15 minutes50/100100/200200/400300/600 100 ante500/1000 2001000/2000 5002000/4000 1000and both blinds and antes double every level after that. My problem is the competition is so weak it's tempting.

Was this by chance at the Island Resort and Casino in Michigan? I noticed your location as "The heart of the Upper Peninsula" if it is we probably played together. I agree with everyone that the game has a terrible structure, but when it's the only show in town, it's almost too tempting. I had a similar feeling, I felt like with the exception of 2 hands I played extremely well, and yet still lost my buy-in. I feel fine about losing though because, like I said, I played well.

On the upper peninsula of Michigan there are a couple 18 and over casinos. I'm 18 and live in Green Bay, WI and I drive to the Island Resort and Casino, it's probably about 5 hrs. from Chicago, a little under 2 hrs. from here. They don't spread too many games, usually a 2/5 dealers choice game, and somtimes a 3/6 hold em and 100 buy-in 2/4 NL game. I would warn you against the tournaments, they're fun, but the structure amounts to a luckfest, after the rebuy period they're 15 minutes and essentially double each time.

I lived out my fish days in home game NL tournaments. A hand I will never forget: I hold A 2 off and of course call (I have an ace!) and the flop comes K Q 3, there's a lot of action and I end up calling all in, and when I flip over my cards I say "straight." The worst part is I hit running 4 5 for the wheel and won the hand.

I had a good year too. I turned 18 in September, so I only have 4 months of serious play both live and online. Before it was exculsively home games. Since September I have almost doubled the $400 stake I gave myself on my birthday to start off with, so that can't be a bad thing. I look forward to an even better year in 2006. Just a few minutes ago, playing 5 handed 1/2 at FCP. UTG I raise with 3 3 both blinds call. Flop comes 7 7 7, both players check, I bet, both call. Turn comes the case 7 for board quads. SB bets, BB calls, I fold. River comes an Ace, it goes check check. SB shows A 2 for the nuts on the turn, BB shows 8c 10c and we have this exchange:BB: "Why bet when there are 4 on the board, we all share"Me: "On the turn?"BB: "Yes"Me: "Because you couldn't win, and had 3 outs for half." BB: "No we all share." At this point I recognize it is futile and give up the fight. I finish a 30 minute session
