  1. Dude,In answer to your title question... no FCP can't really help you that much.If you wanna play SnG's and are willing to put a little study into them, you should be able to beat the low levels relatively easily. However, the only place to learn is at TwoplusTwo and their One Table Tournament section... nothing in this forum will ever match the content over there for this extremely limited sub-set of games, and virtually every winning SnG player posts / browses over there. In reference to an earlier reply 'practise and study, and post in strat' = v. low progression compared to posting over the
  2. If for MTT's i want 200 buy-ins, and 100 for SnGs, does 25 sound like a reasonable number for HU games?I thought it was, but then for limit HU, if i want 400BB for 10-handed and 600BB for SH due to variance, logic says 800BBish should be used for HU limit. So then the conundrum i have is, imagine a bankroll of say $3,200. You'd play only $2/4 which can barely beat the rake, but then would be playing in $124 HU SnGs (if that level existed, so for arguments sake say it does). This doesn't sit right with me as the discrepancy seems too big, or are 30BB downswings common in HU games over say 45 minu
  3. Daniel,Are you planning on hitting the town at all whilst in our beautiful city?Or maybe playing a few hands at a casino (or maybe Gutshot card club)?
  4. So I needed some light reading for my train journey to work this morning, and so picked up a copy of WPT Poker (£3 WH Smith), not expecting a great deal as most poker mag's tend to be of a low quality, but hoping for a good interiew with Patrik Antonius who was on the cover.Anyway, I turn to page 10 where the $50k HORSE event is described as 'a wild poker variant', and realise I have likely made a more costly mistake than when i call those $4 value bets when i know i'm beat. But i was actually disgusted when confronted with the following 1/2 page article:'Is 7-2 Actually the worst hold-em star
  5. The calculation does assume you receive back your original wager because the odds number only accounts the profit you make ie. winnings less entry fee.
  6. I posted something on this yesterday, relating it to SnG bankroll management.http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-foru...8576&highlight=
  7. And i just want to emphasise, BE CAUTIOUS.Don't risk more than 2.5% of your bankroll unless you feel comfortable doing so, and you're actually giving yourself 50 buy-ins which is a very reasonable BR management technique. However, it just may be that after 1000 $5 & $10 SnG's, youd actually be better off playing $20's due to your skill level, but weren't aware of it due to a cautious approach etc. Why spend time grinding at lower levels if you'd perform well enough at a higher level?
  8. No tim - it doesn't.Firstly, the formula isn't the issue. If you read the article properly you would realise that it is mathematically sound provided correct info is used, and its applications spread well beyond poker SnG's IE Actually managing the internet connection you use to play poker evey day, not to mention a ziliion other things.Secondly, I would have hoped for a higher standard of responses (hope i don't sound arrogant). The results you'd get are only as accurate as the odds and cash rate you enter. Do you think that a sample size of 1 is going to give a useful answer? (though obvious
  9. lol - either you've had some awesome results or a fairly large bankroll. Good luck maximising your edge...Coincidently, whats the biggest SnG that can be played. I think I've read about ZeeJustin competing in $5000 on Party before.
  10. and Bizzle,Don't scare them away???From what?? My stats are not going to suggest i play at a $100 level with a 2k bankroll as sng's aren't even in my top 5 preferred games (limitS/H, limit full, MTT, no-limit S/H, heads-up if you want the breakdown). But if i found someone with stats to backup this kind of jump, i would gladly send them your way...
  11. Good replies guys1. I was gonna post in strat, but hadn't already done it here and didn't want to have two different threads going. maybe a mod will move it for me...2. I forgot to put the skill level difference in my caveat part (doh!) so good point. Knew i'd miss out something. But eventually, if you don't change structure but do change skill level, your stats will reflect this difficulty and will adjust the odds accordingly (downwards), thus leading it to suggest playing at lower levels if apprpriate.Think of it as a seesaw effect whereby success at a level moves you up as odds are in your

  13. Link to an interesting article which describes Kelly's theorem as the optimal way to build a bankroll:http://www.gutshot.com/articles/566.htmlIt has a link to a calculator for this theorem on it. Well worth a read i think.I've run a few scenario's to show some interesting information about what level to play at SnG's depending on your skill, and how it can dramatically differ from person to person. This is assuming you don't mind risking a large portion of your bankroll if you're good (in order to maximise returns). It also demonstated to me the usefulness of keeping a good track of your resul
  14. position: 45 out of 45Overplayed a pair of aces in stud. Think that's it for me. Oh well.
  15. I'm trying to improve.I've never played Razz outside of HORSE tourney's, and only have a basic understanding. I've played stud a fair amount at low-limits, so think I've got reasonable game, tho not 8/b. Limit is my normal game, tho tourney style alters it a little.Have never played Omaha outside of pot-limt, so again it's kinda new.
