Hate it pushing with absolute rubbish against the only player at the table who can hurt you has to be negative ev. Although that said he is very likely to lay most hands down but when he calls you are in a bad situation. However reraising 1500 does the trick and you can still get away from the hand on the occasions he pushes.regards

Thanks for the replies I knew he was strong the A hit on the river all the money went in and the poor devil showed quad Queens. I try not to play results hence the question. The question that troubles me is would I have paid off a big bet on the end if I had hit a Jack or a low ? I like to think I would have gotten away from the hands cheaply by just calling a small bet on the end.

I'm in the latter stages of a tournament about 3 places away from a small payout I have about average chips. One of my opponents has one tactic and one tactic only which is the pre-flop all-in move. He has been doing this regardless of the pot size, position, number of opponents, no matter what the game situation he moves in. I have been on the same table for a while and seen some of the hands A6 & KJ 99 & AK.A Q in late position I raise all fold to his SB he moves in for almost all my chips BB folds. Fold or call? If you fold what is your minimum calling requirement? thanks

I'm not sure I hate the pre-flop raise, the text book play would suggest a bigger raise but the danger is that he would lose all his customers which would be a waste of a big pocket pair.

You played it fine, if you could see your opponents hands you would beg them to call you. You were never going to lose the eights the QT should have folded, but made a very marginal call and got lucky, never mind next hand.Good luck

Close to the money in a 180 runner NLHE tourney 18 spots get paid. I have 15000 blinds are 300/600 and I am dealt TT in mid position. I raise to 2000 and the c/o moves all-in with 12000. Blinds fold back to me 10000 to call.I have played with this guy since the 1st table of the tournament he makes big over raises with AK & AQ and as far as I can make out he has not done it with any other holding. It depends, of course on my position and how many people I have to act after me but in the position of top 2 pair and a suited and connected board I am very much of the view is it is a one bet hand i.e. bet the flop to pick up the pot and close down in the face of aggression. I would only be the turn if called if the turn card is a very obvious brick for the straight and flush draws that are out. You are right not to like it is about the worst made hand that can be played in Omaha and is routinely over played by Hold’em players when they 1st start to explore the delights of Pot limit Omaharega

The reason why I set the opening bet at 4 times the BB was that I wanted to make calling as unattractive as possible and still keep the bet within the bounds of possibility. I disagree with raising all-in preflop, but a reraise sufficent to take it down say 20,000 if called the flop becomes simple either hit and move in or miss check fold to the almost inevitable bet. For the record I would consider that flop a hit and move in.standaman

In general top & bottom pair in PLO is a horrible hand if you bet and get reraised it is behind either to a set or top 2 pair assuming there is no straight or flush possible on the board .In this instance however you had the nut flush draw as a back up and in truth that is the real strength of the hand I would check the flop and call the bet so if you hit on the turn you can bet out to protect your hand. By betting you open yourself up to a raise, which if you call it pot commits you as you cannot throw your hand away on turn almost no matter what comes off. regardsStandaman
