mcgroover replied to rvrchsrhtr's topic in General Poker Forum
Put two and two together, eh.... -
Are these limits different at all to what you expected, Daniel?
-
Is this for real? Yeah Negreanu, who said you were allowed to have a life......?

How do you know they are linked to the same IP address? If this is true, I feel a little sorry for her, it would seem she has a legitimate mental illness. -
Can A Catholic Vote For The Pro-choice Obama?
mcgroover replied to DanielNegreanu's topic in Politics, Economics and News
Ok, but even without the cake thing, the point I was making is that the whole progression from adulthood is continous. The person becomes more and more into adult form and more self aware from conception to adulthood. Points along this progression like coming out of the womb or even forming a 26 week old foetus are milestones but I can't see how it suddenly makes them 'human'.The dependent on the mother thing? I don't really get this point. I mean if a baby was left by itself on the ground after birth it wouldn't survive, it needs parents to care for it. So whether it is being cared for bef -

I think the difference is that the tonsils are PART of someone's body, whereas the foetus is the WHOLE of somone's body. -

You could also argue with this view that a baby is a not fully baked cake since it has not matured to a full human being (brain development, speech, sense of humour) but killing a baby cause it is not the finished product yet is not moral. -

I do agree with the first sentence but I would like to make the point that I think the difference isn't as big as most might think. The big deal of killing of a 'blob' of cell tissue is that it already has a complete genetic structure of a human being and by killing the 'blob', you are killing the entire thing (as opposed to losing a limb which is also a chunk of cell tissue). All the genes are there, so you would be eliminating an entire personality and essentially a human without all the features. The fact that the blob is not self aware is kind of irrelevant imo since a baby is not also -
Well I never mentioned Christianity specifically, I talked about religion in general. I agree it is petty to be changing a word but I think people of all religions might find it easier to accept without the religious links that marriage has come to have in everyone's psyche. I don't think it should be necessary, but maybe it needs to be with some people's views....
-
Yeah good point.

I think the point is not to change the word to make everyone suddenly agree that it is now ok for gay people to be together. I think the point is that by calling it a civil union (and yes even merriage), it separates it from the links to the church that has its own "rules" (and will save debate since some people think this offends God).Even though marriage has started as a religious ceremony, it has now become something also done by people with nothing to do with religion, hence by calling it something other than marriage, it will define it as non-religious event.I think another important poin

Awesome point. I think this would save a lot of debate if they didn't use the word marriage. "Marriage" has a lot of connotations with religion which is its own 'club' and can make whatever rules it wants. The state though is a club of everyone and should allow people to do what they want if it doesn't affect anyone else.

Great blog Daniel, thanks!I love the info on the tells, give us as much info as you can without giving too much away! I have heard you say before you put a lot more stock in hand reading than tells, but I was wondering how often physical tells come in to play....even against pro's?Cheers.

Daniels's Opening Comments On His Blog

Can't believe you spent the time writing this just to misquote someone to create discussion. -
Wow, really strange blog about the dream...but then again what dreams aren't strange.Daniel, you didn't mention in the blog what you think these dreams mean or why you have them. Seems to be a big "trapped" theme there....oh, and snacks. I think I've had weirder dreams though, I had a dream a few months ago that I had a baby that turned out to be a robot. I challenge someone to beat that.
