  1. This is my first hand post. I started playing 4 months ago. I've done pretty well, working my way up the limits from 5c/10c using the 300BB bankroll rule. Things went sour a few weeks ago when I moved up to 1/2 and went on a 160BB losing streak. I know I've got some major holes in my game, particularly in knowing when to be aggressive. I'm very frustrated with the game right now. I've moved back down to .5/1 and I'm going to be posting some hands to try to get a handle on some of the fundamentals.Paradise Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (9 handed) converterPreflop: Hero is UTG+1 with K:heart:, K:spade:.
  2. So it was. I miissed that. Thanks.
  3. How bad is it to simply call the first flop bet, so the field isn't faced with calling two cold, then raise the turn, where the bets are larger?I don't think anyone mentioned this line, so I assume this is a bad idea. But it's how I would have played it, so I'm hoping to learn something.
  4. How wrong is it to bet this? You've got 9 outs to the nut flush, 3 more to the nut straight, plus a bit of value in an overcard. I thought this might be a value bet with four opponents. Plus, if a diamond hits, they're not likely to put you on a flush, so you may get some extra bets.
  5. Note that it's 3 big blinds per hour, not big bets.
  6. Thanks for posting these. I've been working on overcard play myself. I wouldn't bet this. Your overcard is weakened by straight and flush draws on the board. I'd give you 1 out for your A and 1 out for your straight draw. Hitting either of these draws with a spade puts three to a flush on the board. Add 1.5 outs for your backdoor flush draw and you've got 3.5 outs.I don't think this is enough unless the bet buys you something extra. You probably don't have much fold equity given the low limit and two PF cold-callers. Also, the hands that you are afraid of--flush and straight draws--aren't go
  7. To add some balance to the discussion, my experience with Royal Vegas has been a positive one. It sounds like most of the problems that have been described in this thread could have been avoided by simply reading the Terms and Conditions. In addition, I've written support on a number of occasions and have always found them prompt and helpful. I've worked through the requirements for both the $10 start-up bonus and the $40 deposit bonus without hassle. I also like the clean, uncluttered look of their tables, which are easy on these old eyes during a long session. The biggest negative to the sit
  8. Newbie here. Can you explain how to determine that you need 5-1?Thanks.
  9. Oh! Sorry. I'm a newbie. I've only played limit so far and I was sort of stuck in that mindset (hence, my interpreting "push" as "jam the pot").Thanks.
  10. No, not long, but unclear--to me anyway. "Push pre-flop"--got that. But you then said, "If you hit a set with a PP bet. If not, fold." Seems strange to be folding pockets aces on many flops, so I'm asking for clarification.
  11. Just so I understand what you're advocating, are you really saying to jam the pot with AA, but then fold if you don't hit a set on the flop? What if you play AKs and hit top two pair on the flop? Fold it?Also, I've been watching some of the micro limit NL games and many of them play pretty much like limit--that is not much raising beyond the minimum. If you hit a set on the flop or a flush on the river and suddenly go all in it seems like everyone would just bail on you. Are you saying that they call anyway? Or are you advocating something besides going all in?Thanks.
  12. What about tightening up a bit on some of the suited hands? I haven't played much 6-max, but I've been wondering if some of the Axs hands are still playable, since pot odds may not allow for draws as often. Is holding a lone A against a smaller field enough to compensate for this? I need to figure this stuff out, because I find when my full limit tables start to break up I often lose money.
  13. At Royal Vegas, there are two separate requirements, and the way they are written is confusing, but it comes down to this:1. To SECURE the bonus, you have a week to EITHER make a deposit OR play ONE raked hand. If you don't do one of these, the bonus is removed from your account. Since you only start with $10, the best thing to do to secure the bonus is to post the CO at a .25 /.50 table and then fold through the entire orbit until you reach the BB. That way you're almost guaranteed that at least one hand will be raked, and it only cost you 25 cents. You can then grind it out at the .05/10 t
