Wow, that couldn't have been more helpful. I'm going to be in the area in early June for my cousins college graduation. I've been playing poker online for about 6 months, and turned a 25 dollar investment into 500 dollars playing small stakes hold 'em and a litte Stud. Thought it would be an expierence trying my luck in a live casino game. I think my chance of winning here are comparable to what I've seen online. Thanks again.

Afterward, someone pointed out that the limper with JT0 was playing reckless because he had to get up for work in 4 hours. i.e. he was trying to bust out. At this point taking a stab at the pot is going to cost me almost half of my stack, as anyone who calls will go all in. I didn't think that was a wise play with 3 diamonds on the board. I don't think i played this hand poorly. I was second in chips and did not want to do anything drastic and lose half of my chips. however, it turned out I lost about 80 percent of it. I'm in a tournament currently second in chips with about 12000. I'm no where near comfortable though, it's a real volatile structure. Blinds are 150/300 with 25 ante. I im in the big blind with A T . 2 limpers, the sb completes and I raise to 1200 hoping to take it down. The limpers call the sb folds. The flop comes 6 7 9 . It gets checked around. The turn comes 8 . Theres 4000 chips in the pot and I bet 3000 with the straight. The first limper raises all in for 2400 more, and I call. He shows JTo. I miss my flush on the river. Leaving me with 2500 in chips. Any opinions?

Im not going to lie, I'm still confused about how the money is made at this game. It always seems to be Gus, Phil, Doyle, Chau, Chan, Lyle Berman, and yourself whenever you're playing. And with the A on the board, a reraise is very atypical in this situation as preflop was 3 bet. I gotta have top pair at least. Even though you know exactly how he plays, it doesn't mean you're going to win every hand against him. He plays realy good limit poker. It's hard to lose a lot of money when you play tight and raise with the right hands. My advice would be to try and sit to his left, so you'll act after him when you sit at the table. That way when he raises preflop you can get out of the hand if your hand isn't that good. One thing would be to raise him on the flop. Omaha is very difficult to follow, and I personally play the game for money. It takes like ten minutes -- i'm exagerating -- to look at the four cards and figure out all of players draw. Regardless, this idea is not bad and I actually wouldn't mind seeing a stud or omaha event on tv. But just one! Also, about limit hold 'em. I love the game, but it's not extremely fun to watch on TV. Limit hold 'em is all odds and math which often results in there being an easy decision to make all the time, especially with professionals. The Party Poker event is the only Limit event the WPT needs.

Discussion about cheating is most definitly condusive with the overall goals of a poker forum, that being to discuss the aspects of the game. I personally find it very interesting, and being naive i tend to wonder whether or not I have been cheated before. I tend to believe that the most significant difference between live and online play is the time online players take to make decisions. Often live players will think for 5 whole minutes before making an big call. Conversely, online players tend have only 20 seconds at most to make a decision. As a result, online players tend to rush into things in big tournaments. When Daniel's opponent saw his over pair he hastily assumed he had the best hand, because hell, most of the time an over pair is best against the BB.

Ok, blinds are 50/100. 8 k guaranteed tournament at Absolute poker. I have about 4000 chips and average is about 2900. I'm second to act and i raise my KK to 300. The BB and UTG call with 100 chips already in the pot. There is 950 chips in the pot. The flop comes KJ9 rainbow. BB and UTG check. I bet 300 and both call. 1850 chips in the pot. Turn comes 8 of clubs (the second club). I figure the pot is big enough now and when they check to me again I bet 1000 and take it down. I am happy with my decision.
