Top Pair In Position, Kinda Gay Turn
nogobusto replied to nogobusto's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
My flop raise was a pot sized one. I think a smaller bet is better here too, for if nothing else, it keeps the pot smaller.I suppose a more interesting question would be "should I have raised the flop, and to how much?" I like to raise when I'm fairly sure I have the best of it and this is a pretty drawy board, but i also dont know what to do on the turn. If he pushes the flop, i guess i'll call...? if he calls flop and checks a scary turn, I have to check behind and am lost on most rivers.beh. -

I think the value you gain from the LAG firing the flop again is way to small too consider just calling preflop. The button will come along with a very wide range of hands (or at least should) and the blinds will then be getting around 3.75:1 or better on their hand. You're setting yourself up for a 4-5 handed flop, which just isn't optimal. In fact, it's a fairly large mistake imho. There are times when NOT 3-betting a LAG would be fine, but I don't think this is one. If he's a good LAG like you said, 84 and K6 arent in his EP range. At least, when I'm playing 55VPIP/38PFR, I'd fold K6 and

Important Strategy Question
nogobusto replied to Naismith's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
I haven't been here long but I'm smart enough to be willing to stake Zach.I have money, ask me. -
lolI have to agree that open-limping T9s in the CO isn't as good a play as raising with it.I think its raising > folding > limp/calling, with folding and limping pretty close to each other. Just to see, go to your PokerTracker and set a filter for suited connectors in the CO/Button with a chance to steal blinds and you raised. I'm showing a decent profit. When it's chance to steal and called, I'm showing an extremely marginal profit.

Make your preflop raise bigger. I also think betting $0.50 at this flop is -EV with 3 opponents and being OOP -
Top Pair With 2nd Nut Flush Draw

you're getting like 3.4 to 1 here, this is an easy call. You're doing way better than 23% against your opponent's range. -
Villain Raises Every Straddle

Yeah. I'm gonna echo what everyone else said and tell you to re-raise larger before the flop and insta-call his push. -
Jacks W/ A Horrible Board
nogobusto replied to shinzilla's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
Make it $3 preflop. :)What would UTG possibly limp with and then fold closing the action getting $5.25 : 1.75 ? -
Ehhh, I don't really like it because it really does look like air. After you checked the turn and it got checked behind, a river check-raise isn't very believable. You're risking $200 to win $133, and I don't think you take this pot down from a lag greater than 60% of the time.

After trying like 9284 things to defeat tilt, I have found only one that works every time.Right when the "trigger" occurs (bad beat, etc) do this:Yell "TTTTTTIIIIIIIILLLLLLTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" at the top of your lungs directly at your monitor. It will make you feel so silly and help you realize how stupid and pointless tilt is.
