I doubt Doyle has ever played an $80 tourney in his life, why on earth would you base your strategy on his advice? His book was written based on his experiences and his experiences is in cash games with a much higher standard of player. Tourney stratgey is vastly different to cash game strategy, and for what its worth it was a terrible play on your part regardless of what the other player called with.

I have to disagree.If it wasnt for the WSOP you would have no poker boom. The WSOP Main Event is still the main title every true poker player wants.All it needs is a little more input from poker players in preparation for next year, and I mean players from ACROSS THE BOARD. Not just the high level pro's...we dont want every event being $50K in order to limit the fields to the very few, i.e. this years HORSE event.

I think telling people to start betting on you/anyone else could be a bad move from a PR persepctive. As you'll know better than me some people on this forum are very obsessed with you, i.e. Daniel plays golf they take up golf, daniel likes this they like this, daniel says jump they say I love you...you get my drift This sort of person is likely to bet their life savings on you if you tell them...you know they are! Although I dont know Phil personally his success on the Poker scene is there for all to see, especially on the tourney scene. Its impossible to play every hand perfectly correct and lets remember Phil could have put his opponent on a very different hand...we clearly have the advantage here of knowing the outcome, making it easier to suggest whether this is a good or bad play. Yes critisise the playing of the hand, I am sure Phil would be the first to admit he would have played it differently (Had he known he was up against J10, like we do). If your poker game is of a standard where you feel you have some kind of chance of lasting into the money (not talking about winning yet) I think you'd know a thing or two about poker.Therefore I would set aside $2000 of that and try and qualify through a satellite, start with the cheap ones! If that doesnt work out you still have plenty of time to get the $2000 back before Germany next summer. I've seen Rounders a fair few times and I expect I will watch it a few more times, its a decent film, but not one to take too seriously. The more you think about the scenario's in the film the more its makes no sense to how the actual poker world is.
