  1. Quick question - was I pot-committed here? Along those lines, what 'defines' pot-commitment? Is it just the percentage of your stack that goes into the pot or do the blinds play a big factor? It was still *very* early (first level) so even though almost half my stack went into the pot, I don't think I had to go broke on it.PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20 (8 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cxMP1 (t1080)MP2 (t1520)CO (t950)Hero (t1470)SB (t1460)BB (t1480)UTG (t2760)UTG+1 (t1420)Preflop: Hero is Button with A:spade:, A:club:. 1 fold, UTG+1 calls t60, MP2 calls t60.
  2. Yeah, according to the message, they're trying to attract play money players. The only thing painful is the rake. Sure, it's only 20 cents - but if you think about it, that's 20%.But I've played three and made the money twice, so basically even if you have just a passing, rudimentary knowledge of the game, you should do all right (My point being, I'm not very good, yet still cashing).
  3. Dude, I don't even need to think of a specific hand. I feel that way as soon as I load the client.
  4. Yeah, there were like 1800 or so. I really should have been eliminated back in the500s, so for me to get 32nd was an accomplishment in and of itself.
  5. Everyone always posts about bad beats they receive, but I feel it necessary to share with everyone the positively ludicrous evening I had in PokerStars $3+0 supersatellite.Yes, friends, *I* am 'that guy' on PokerStars who you're complaining about to your friends. I am no longer Rocko, I am King Suckout. 8. Yeah, the button actually had A A:spade: . Now if the gorramn guy had just been a good boy and raised before the flop, it would've saved me time and effort. As a completely off-topic aside, did you catch the Evil Monkey's cameo in the season four premiere? I literally cheered when I saw him. It was a great day in television history.

  10. I'm not too good at these sort of things, but it smells like a set to me - nines or sevens, then the turn he hit his boat and tried to trap you. You checked behind him so he had to lead out to try and extract something from you on the river. That being said, it's hard to throw away a huge overpair, but yeah, you have to bet the turn and if he comes back over the top, then you can probably throw it away without worrying about it.
  11. Your Neteller funds are in Canadian funds, so when you make your deposit to PokerStars, you'll be doing so in American dollars, so you'll have to pay exchange. Neteller gives a very competitive rate, though, so if you want to deposit $100 US, you need about $120 cdn in your neteller account.
  12. So my friend signed up for Pokerstars at my behest and I transferred $20 to him so he can get started at the micro tables. Being the competitive @$$ he is, he bet me he could double it within two weeks. Now since I've followed Smash's rise through the ranks, I certainly know it's possible, but Kevin's limit game leaves something to be desired. Still, he's doing incredibly well, up $5 in only ONE day.I'm up $2 myself.I went in to watch him play earlier and saw he was calling with K/8 off and J/x suited out of position and I was more than slightly shocked."What are you doing? 13. Because I'm second to act and a raise will probably scare out the four other guys who'll likely put in their bets just because the pot is so massive?

  15. Right, sorry. I just can't help it. When I lose, I like to whine about it and when I win. ... Well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it, I suppose.
