Very good point. Being raised Catholic (although, I wouldn't consider myself it anymore), I was taught to believe that anybody could be 'saved' or go to heaven even if they did not believe in christ, it only had to do with how they lived their life. I once gave the hypothetical to this girl i met on a vacation, I'm from Maine and shes from Oklahoma, so there was a bit of a culture gap. Anyways, we were talking about christianity, and I said, "Say a guy who has lived his life perfectly, provided charity for the needy, taken care of his family, does everything jesus would want, but doesn't be

i'd say whenever someone finds something that they truly believe is a reason to get up every morning, it generally makes them a nicer, happier person. Christianity does this for a lot of people. Without a doubt there are christians who try to force their beliefs on other people, but there are also athiests and agnostics who do the same.faith in *something* i believe is the most important thing for people to have, and thats why i think people, especially born-agains, are happier and nicer once they decide to become christian

That is actually a really good formula. Where'd you get that monkey?[/i] -
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions, I know it was a bad call before the flop and will be more mindful from now on. I think the best advice (and all of you gave it) was to bet more agressively with top pair. I did it last night in 3 $5 buy in tourney's on pokerroom and placed 2nd, 1st, and 3rd (10 player tourney's). Where it worked best was actually the game in which i finished 2nd, I was really getting beat down with my hole cards, but the few hands I did play (which were usually bad hole cards too) I was able to steal some pots with weak top pair. Thanks again to everyone and I'm su

Definitely, Daniel sucked in a lot of Hockey/Poker fans to his side by wearing those jersey's of his in the TV tourneys. First time I saw him, he was heads up with Freddy Deeb and in Mats Sundin jersey, and I was like "this is the guy"

I'd love to play in a home game in boston if anyone wants to host, but haha I am NOT going to Chinatown to play in any underground games. I'm still remembering the time I got yelled at in Chinese at the "Quality Cafe" for sitting down while a guy was still wiping the table down. Haha, my most traumatic experience in Boston yet. He went on for like 3 or 4 minutes and then had the gall to give me silverware instead of chopsticks! However, there is a place in Chinatown that will serve you 'Cold Tea' (beer in a teapot!) after the bars let out at 2, don't know the name tho cause i don't really re

NO WAY! Haha I gottaknow who you are now. At least tell me what years you played and position so I can guess! I paid $150 to see the Blackbears in the National Championship last year only to see them lose 1-0! I go to Northeastern now so I do root for them against UMaine (but only cause we're the biggest underdogs) but at least its given me more reason to hate BU!

I just think it's awesome we have an AHL player trolling the board. As a big hockey fan (From Maine, so I'm a Pirates fan  ) I hope I can see you play. However that looks doubtful as the Pirates are in second to last place in their division right now, but the Grifs look like they're in good shape, good luck in getting to the playoffs!

Was this played right?I was in a cash game with my friends (9 of us), got Kd-Qh and was right of the button, 1st guy raised BB, and 3 or 4 people called when it came to me and I raised 2XBB, had two callers after that (one of the guy was the one who raised). Flop came2h-Qd-7hThe first to bet bet the BB, and the next called, and then me, knowing I most probably had TPTK (with the exeption of an A-Q out there) called and raised 2XBB to try and fold any flush draws out there. The first better called and then the next guy folded. Turn was:9hNow, at this point, I figured that my opponent had some

Just like it's hard for a drawing out of a hat to be completely random, or even a shuffling of the cards? I mean, if you start out with a 7 of spades on the bottom, cut and shuffle, cut and shuffle, cut and shuffle, that 7 of spades has moved up at most...10 cards? Hardly anybody ever cuts the top 42 cards, so it's almost a gurantee that 7 spades will never hit the top of the deck on the deal. Probably 1 out of 300 or 400 deals. Now in an internet game, that 7 spades is the first dealt 1 out of 52.All i'm saying is is that these online sites have more random deals than a home game. And ar

Yeah of course it's important to keep in mind that it's heads up. I tried writing a Java poker hand simulator this summer (computer engineer here) but got swamped in syntax errors. Anybody here know of a good playing deck class or hold 'em class thats out there somewhere? hehe, i know the odds are low but just hoping

Thanks for the replys everyone,And your experiment sounds really interesting Kendren. Even if Internet Poker was legalized in the US the servers would be run in whatever country had the leanest laws I'm sure.Yeah, I'm not a guy who ever complains about a bad beat, and I will apologize to others when I get one (like my Q6s beating a AA in an all-in last night). And I have come to fully respect the river, but your experiment Kenren is very interesting, if river beats are indeed that high, it might actually start to change my style of play a bit (do a little bit more bullying at the flop).
