I was really catching a bad run of cards, maybe the occassional Q3 off but no suited connectors, no pairs..and I really hated to push with complete crap

any ideas on how best to play heads up against a maniac who raises all in on 5 out of every 6 hands. This guy admittedly is a poor player who doesn't want to be heads up with me, but I wasn't catching any hands and the blinds were killing me.Blinds were 600-1200 and chip stacks were near even at about 15000 a pieceI would have really liked to had seen a flop before committing to an all in, cause i know this guy is a scrub, but he wasn't letting me...finally after being blinded down to about 8500 I went all in and lost with K9 suited.....guess his plan worked, so who's the hack...

i was fairly sure he had an overpair,or maybe top pair with a good kicker. he'd played pretty solid most of the day so far, small raises, fairly quick decisions...so the all in, with the long pause was uncharacteristic. I thought he was trying to buy the pot without any further play after seeing the flop.I think i've determined that to protect my big pocket pairs against speculative hands, i need to raise big preflop...live and learn....thats why i'm heregreat forum by the way!!!!

Thanks for the input everyone.Copernicus...the table was pretty tight and I was trying to extract max value from the hand, but i see the value in a bigger raise (esp. now) ... i'm leery of the all in raise early in the tourney, although i'm sure in this instance it would have workedI probably wouldn't have called, but i really thought i had a good read on him ( and as it turns out i did)...I might not do it in the same situation again, but knowing the odds now I think i'd take a 80/20% any day

lol...I wish my mommy paid my way in..i'm 38 so a bit old for that to happenI won a way in through a local tourney i play, a series of 12 games over the year $200 buy in winner take all $1000 each month, and $12000 going to the final winner (based on a 1-10 points scale) for wsop entryso yeah, i beat 9 guys over a 12 months to go to the wsop...doesn't make me an expert, but i think i play solid poker

Ok, i'd like to hear your input on how i should have played this all in hand that put me out on day one of the wsopblinds were 100-200, i was in late position 1 caller before me, I had Pocket A's and raised to 600blinds folded the limper called the raise and the flop was:5h 6s 7d limper checksI bet 1000, ( my chip stack is about 8000 before the hand)after about 3 minutes of chip shuffling and thinking, the limper goes all in, he had me coveredI've been playing fairly tight most of the day so far so I had a pretty conservative table image.
