  1. i don't think you can really compare the big game to any other game in terms of win rate, except for a couple limits under 2k/4k. i think playing in the "big game" you should be happy with any win rate higher than .5bb/hr assuming you can't do better at lower rungs. i'm sure that's not enough for the likes of barry, daniel, etc., though.i don't play much limit though, what do people aim for at 2/4 or even 20/40 or 100/200? what i mean is that standard probably doesn't apply to any of the players playing 2k/4k.
  2. value bet, i'd say around 1100. feels like two high cards, queens or a pair lower than jacks.
  3. ---ZSKIN--- [observer]: Barry when will you play another match against Negreanu?crazyplayer: mot sure; our schedules are crowded---ZSKIN--- [observer]: Is he skilled at most games, or more of a specialistcrazyplayer: haven't seen his skill yet
  4. you have bottom set, utg check raised in to a pot where it was bet and then raised, you can assume he has bottom set beat either with his higher set or his made straight. these games are kinda goofy so someone playing 8Ts probably isn't so out of the question.
  5. Just curious, what level do you play? You just made the argument for why a skilled player WOULD push here with a set.And QQ or JJ is very unlikely. He wouldn't push knowing that he's likely betting into a pair of kings or aces.I have to disagree. What I did forget to say was that if the kid is a regular and since our hero here is a new player he could just be putting a move on him. The regular would also have to figure that our hero could have QQ and going allin here "to get value for his set" would only scare him away. Obviously it's a play meant to confuse and you can argue either way, but
  6. I would put him on AK or QQ-JJ. There's no way anyone is playing a set like that. If he's competent look at his options: He can bet mediumish in to you, let you raise, flat call, check turn, let you bet and commit yourself possibly. His push is representing something much stronger than what he has. I'm thinking QQ or JJ mostly. No one likes to dump these hands preflop unless there's tons of action in front of you, but most of the time it'd be a horrible move to reraise a rerasise with them. I think everyone wants *at least* to see a flop with it, even though you know you're probably beh
  7. you were getting 2:1 odds, any two live cards have a 33% chance to win, so a call was correct, as long as you thought your cards were live.
  8. i agree with #2. 99 is a hand i want to see all of the cards with when i'm shortstacked, race styles only. if someone happens to have a higher pair, then oh well. you run the risk of running in to overs (a8 may call you here) and it will be a race situation, but at least you're on the right side.plus, if you push preflop right away, you have a little fold equity on your side if you catch someone playing "safe". going allin like that may get TT (very very not likely) to fold here and possibly AT/AJ.another point is that you have no chips to protect your hand both preflop AND on the flop. y
  9. if you don't limp with KJ you're probably playing too tight ;[edit: however, i certainly reraise a smallish bet with TPTK if i have position, but would never call a check raise or a reraise from late position with the same hand. that hand is not something you simply call with, it's either raise bet or fold, imo.
  10. hey tremomey, what casino do you play at? i'm at the taj a lot, maybe we've met!
