  1. You would be making less of a mistake if you were 3-betting it 100% regardless. The only time it can be wrong is when you have an opponent that you know definately only raises AA & KK and has raised before you.Players like that are extremely rare; last time I tried that assumption (villain had 200+ hands with 1 raise) I was wrong.I respectfully disagree. I don't think you can state absolutes like this in poker. Perhaps I should have elaborated. Against unknown opponents, I will three-bet AK 100% of the time. I have no need to vary my play against someone I may only play 100 hands agains
  2. The 8/16 LHE game at Wynn has been very, very good to me. It's played as a four-chip/eight-chip game with two-dollar chips. This is good for the game compared to playing with red and blue. I think the room is run well, cocktail service is fantastic and appealing to the eyes  Wynn has become my regular stomping grounds several days per week. Oh, and they have the best. chairs. ever. The lowest limit spread is 4/8. There are regularly games going up to 15/30, and up to 40/80 on the weekends. The games higher than 15/30 aren't always going, but there always seems to be an interest l
  3. For me it depends who raised, from what position, and who is left to act behind me, but I'd say I'll three-bet it 90% of the time.
  4. Excalibur's 2-6 spread limit game was a weekly stop for me for quite a while. That game is very good and has been very profitable for me. My BR has grown so I'm not playing there as much since that's the highest "limit" game they spread, but I still get there at least once per month because I've gotten to know a lot of the dealers, and the game is still too good to pass up. I've also never waited longer than about 20 minutes to get a seat. I've never played in the 1-3 spread limit, but I've been told there's lots of monkeys flinging poo all over that game. It has a single $2 blind, so it
  5. I smoke quite a bit, daily when I have some on hand, but never while playing poker or doing anything else that requires brain power. Best thing EVER for arthritic knees. Unfortunately, I've had a difficult time finding a good supply since I moved to Vegas.
  6. I live here so I'll be around a lot. Not playing in any events (yet) but I'm still trying to win a main event entry.
  7. Interesting. This type of thing has happened to me each time I've moved up in limits. I started at .5/1. When I moved up to 1/2, I had to drop back down to .5/1 twice before successfully making the transition to 1/2. When I tried to move up to 2/4, I again had to move back down to 1/2 twice before succesfully making that transition. When I tried to move up to 3/6, I had to move back down to 2/4 three times before successfully making that transition.I'm now on my third try at moving up to 5/10 and again I'm getting my ass handed to me. I can't figure out exactly why this is, but it's prob
  8. I VERY occasionally limp or limp/re-raise with aces from EP, but to keep it completely random and VERY occasional, I use a suggestion from TOP. I use the suits of the cards to determine when I do this. Whenever I have AsAd, I limp. Any other time, I raise.
  9. Cool. I'm new here but I'd certainly love a hat and shirt. You gotta use one of these "Special Forces Bush Hats" though. That would rock...
  10. I kind of disagree with you here, Ebonwoulfe. Limit poker is about pushing small edges and maximzing strong hands. I know I didn't mention this particular player's tendencies, but he was pretty loose and fairly aggressive. Not a maniac, but definitely not passive. With three to a flush on the board, my read was that he was overplaying his flush into a paired board. I bet the river, he raised which knocked everyone else out. I three-bet my FH. When he capped, then I thought I was probably in trouble, but of course I'm not going to lay it down for one more bet. I understand what you're say
  11. I realize this. It's happened before and will happen again, which is why I explained that this wasn't a bad beat, just a bad beating. Hey, the best hand before the flop won the hand.I figured posting here was a better way to release than smashing my mouse would be. Buying a new mouse is definitely -EV.
  12. Doesn't sound like he's talking about a union type organization here, but a governing body. Pro golfers have the PGA, amateur golfers the USGA. Chess has the USCF. Amateur bowlers have the ABC and WIBC. These are organizations that standardize the game and regulate the game. They sanction tournaments and give out awards for things like holes-in-one or 300 games.Roy Cooke has written some interesting articles for CardPlayer dealing with the subject.http://www.cardplayer.com/poker_magazine/a...4515&m_id=65555http://www.cardplayer.com/poker_magazine/a...4376&m_id=65550http://www.card
  13. I need to vent a bit about 5/10. I tried complaining to my wife but she just gave me that blank "deer in the headlights" stare. So you fine folks will have to endure my whining for just a little bit. This is not a bad beat, just a bad beating and an example of how the poker gods want to punish me for moving up to 5/10. My first orbit of my first try at 5/10 since February, I get this smack down laid upon me. I limp in MP w/ 77 after two EP limpers. A player in LP limps, and the BB checks. I don't raise because this is the type of hand where I want a volume pot because I'll need to catch
  14. I started with $300 plus a 20% deposit bonus on Empire on August 3, 2004. I started at the .5/1 limit tables and strictly adhered to the "300 BB" rule as I moved up in limts. I've cashed out between $500 and $1000 per month since October, 2004. My BR could be bigger if I didn't do this, but I like to eat on a regular basis.I've been playing 3/6 since January, 2005...I've taken several shots at 5/10 and have had my ass handed to me each time, so I made the decision to wait until I had at least a 4K roll to try again. I made that attempt last night, and now I'll be playing a combination of
  15. YOU'RE INNEEDOFWEED. I've played against you a bunch of times. lol. I always wondered as you have good statsWell thanks for the kind words, man. I found this forum only a short time ago and immediately recognized your name as one of the players I don't really want to tangle with too much. Anyway, this place sure beats the pants off that "other forum" I've been lurking/posting at (UPF), so I hope to become a regular, productive member here.
