I have read a number of books by a number of authors. Based on the info you provided, Phil Gordon's new book "Poker: The Real Deal" may be something you are looking for. It's good read. He touches on the basics and goes into more detail on some important issues. He touches on things like pot odds without getting too technical. Discusses it in a way that's easy to understand.It's a good book to start with and then move to Sklansky.
