Well, to be fair this does protect people against the kind of scams a Joe Shmoe would run. Your regular forum scammer is not going to pay up for an ad placement. Wouldn't protect against more elaborate scammers like Annie Duke, but hey, there's a lot more Joe Shmoes than Annies. So it is a legit reason, albeit perhaps not the main one. Does telling half the truth make you a scumbag though?

If Joe wanted to plug his piece in a TV show, in a newspaper, or, say, in Google ads (have his podcast/charity at the top of Google searches) for free, and was turned down, would you say people turning him down were scumbags as well?
