Big Ms out.
Canadian Gothic vs PK Dealers lol I guess the draft was unnecessary.

#3762002 Las Vegas Golden Knights

Posted gruven on 10 October 2017 - 03:25 PM

I've been on social media today saying this, but worth mentioning in here:
The knights removed all advertising from their rink boards for their home opener and replaced it with 'Vegas strong'. Tonight, for their home opener, of which there will be exactly one for all time, they dropped all the gala extravaganza and decided to just honour victims and first responders. They will do their 'official' grand opening on Friday. This is a class move for the ages, and one that deserves an awful lot of respect.

We agree on a lot...

East
1. CANADIAN GOTHIC - barring something catastrophic I should get the bye. My team is deep.

2. I think Winning Combination, Red Ravens and Shoot Loose will battle for this bye. I'm gonna pick SHOOT LOOSE.

3-6 Six teams will battle for four spots. I think Winning Combination, Red Ravens and Magically Delicious will all make the playoffs with only one of Mustangs, Underdogs and Steelheads making it.

Puck Warfare and Cheap Thieves are definitely not playoff bound.

West
1 & 2 Big Ms vs WHALERS and PK DEALERS vs Swackers is what's going on here. Flip a coin, but I have a feeling Whalers and Dealers get the byes.

3-6 Two teams from above plus Shortstackers and Eagles will be in the playoffs.

Ingmen, Greaseballs, Shooters and Broadway will not.

Hey Bob
Question for you. Normally roster deadline is Saturday midnight (7 days before draft). Since draft is Friday this year will deadline for frozen rosters be Friday midnight (7 days), or Saturday midnight (6 days)? Thanks

I'm going to leave it at the Saturday since I will do all my contract work on the Sunday anyway.

FYI I have a lot of the contracts done and should get them all finished on Tuesday. I'll post when they are all done and can e-mail the spreadsheet to those that want it along with the usual post online.

And on that note, are we getting that new website this season?

Hey all, I wish I had good news but I don't think it will be completed in time to use this season. We have made good progress but the back end developer is a senior at his company and is doing this as a nixer in his spare time... which is never and I have three kids all under 10... so ... yeah... there it is...

A lot of the architecture, login system, database and security is in place. What is taking an unusual amount of time and back and forth is the UX and logic of the whole thing. If it doesn't all play together then there is no point right? Anyways, that's the update, sorry it isn't better news. We'll get there and it will be ****ing amazing when we do.

ps: did I mention the Developer is from Ireland and a professional Fencer (the stabbing type, not the backyard type)... which means he knows nothing about Hockey... as if it wasn't challenging enough already.

Let us in on your secret, Bob. Who did you call during the game to get Calgary to make one of the worst line changes in history when Bieksa had the puck behind his own net?

I have rosters from 17 teams, I haven't looked at any for accuracy. I just got home and I will be asleep by 10 and out tomorrow morning before 8.

Eddie the Eagle is on vacation in Hawai and is too busy bikini watching to put in a roster.
Greaseball thought it was the same format as in the past so he would suck so didn't do anything. He is putting a roster in now.
Chris is at the Pens game tonight and has been super busy. I have given him until he goes to sleep tonight to send me a roster.

This is for fun so no reason to be hard asses about the deadline.

#3756130 The Magically Delicious

Posted Ottawa_Biatch on 08 April 2017 - 06:57 PM

Wow can't believe it actually happened. These playoffs have been an absolute roller coaster of emotions.

I thought it would be funny to give a quick recap the history of the Magically Delicious and how we luck boxed our way into the title.

To think back to 2009, when I originally took over the team with guys like can't miss prospect Nikitia Filiatov & high priced FA rental stud D man Nicklas Lidsteon. The team actually had a lot of young talent and I could have built thru the draft. I'll admit I tried and failed.

In 2014, I finally realized this strategy wasn't working. I'm the first to admit I give zero f*cks about fantasy prospects and a poor judge of talent. So I did what I think I do better then most at, creative trades. There was no salary cap at the time and I was wondering why nobody exploited the rule. So I did, lol. Unfortunately, I had Crosby and Malkin, and they both got injured in the playoffs, and I fell to the Gothic in 4 in the Conference Finals.

In 2015, the rules were changed to prevent me from doing this, I became a little creative but nothing really meaningful came from it. I lost in the second round to Negreanu. I was actually up 3-1 in the series and he delivered a dick cheese pizza to my door and won 3 straight to knock me out.

2016 was a dud year, didn't even make the playoffs.

2017, honestly, the plan was originally to draft some high priced FA and then flip them for future picks and young talent. My idiot self tho asked for way too much and nobody wanted Stamkos, Malkin, Coutoure etc for my ridiculous price. So the plan was to trade them at the deadline but then my junk ass team had a decent lead in the division. The degenerate in me, said screw it, I know my team isn't as good as the top tier teams but the playoffs are a crapshoot. So I went all in and did my usual thing. Big name super forwards and no name defencemen. I just made some crazy moves and you know the rest.

Just a shout out to PK Dealers. One of the nicest guys in the league. Texting me about injuries and stuff. They will be back next year.

I just want to thank all the teams in the playoffs and the league. This has been super enjoyable and it's fun seeing you all. I am so happy. Imaginary high fives for everyone.

Wow, what an exciting series this ended up being.
I was up last night watching to see if Gothic could close it out, or Whalers could force a game 7.
Congrats Dale.

With all the excitement done, I guess it will a boring few days with not much to follow until NHL playoffs start.

Although a Guinness cup without Swacker Dave is like
poutine without cheese, it just fries and gravy, good but not the same.

Thank you!
The Guinness Cup is only for former AHL champions ;) Perhaps you'll be eligible next year...I hear there's another AHL playoff game...not sure if that's true, but if so, good luck!

Game 2 March 18th Magic 1.5, Gothic 1.0 Backstrom AAAA
Game 4 March 21st Magic 3.5, Gothic 3.0 Backstrom AAA
Game 5 March 23rd Magic 4.0, Gothic 3.5 Backstrom A

Backstrom basically helped beat you in 3 of the 5 games. Best $14.25 ever spent for Magic

You should get him. He's a bargain next season.

Hey Dave

Stop wasting your time on photoshop, and get back to work on the new AHL site.

Haha, is that the best you got? Since you asked I have a developer chained to a desk working on the live scoring module. It won't look like much (design will come later) but we are hoping to have it ready to test for the finals. Fingers crossed!

Analysis of the Final Four: (or is it 6?)

Magically Delicious vs Canadian Gothic: I think these guys used to be bitter rivals (wasnt there a threat of physical violence once, where did that heart+guts go?!?!!?) but now they are just two timid posters who barely fight with anyone, ever. Booooring. Since I know Dan never, ever reads FCP, I'll start by saying his team is probably the one that is least deserving of still being alive in the final four. I think they average like 1pt a game as a team, and the only reason they won the division crown and got the auto berth into the playoffs was cause Jay was tired and Puck Warfare took a year off to go find themselves in Asia. Things will be much different next year, when reality hits and Dans magic act wears out. I keep hearing Stamkos is coming back, but if he does, it will probably have about the same effect as Michael Jordan had on the baseball field. Looked like a superstar, played like a...well, me. Crap. Stamkos or Stromboloupolous, it doesnt matter, Magical has next to no shot, Dales boys were scared straight like the dude from Clockwork Orange into realizing they may lose to one of these minnows, and now, nothing will be taken for granted, even against a team as awful as Dans. This series ends in 6, maybe 5. Analytics say it may even be over in 3 games. Gothically Delicious MotherFu-----.

Swackers vs PK Dealers: The Big M's are coming off one of their traditional victori......wait, what? He did what, he lost?!?!? Wow. WTF?!?!?
I think we can all agree, the shock of the year is that the Big M's were upset. Good on PK Dealers for doing what so few ever have.....keeping Roy sober! (and the whole thing with Bob was impressive too). Sorry Roy, in case you're reading this, I still love ya buddy! You liven up the draft, and thats not always a bad thing. Speaking of sober....Ireland! Swacker Dave takes his Magic Act to places never seen before in this new Production of "SWACKERS MADE THE SEMIS???". The first puck drop will be minutes away from St.Patricks Day in Ireland, that alone should tell you that the Swack Attack is a team of Destiny. (If you would like to have your own good bout of Destiny, I highly recommend The Brass Rail on a Saturday night, she'll be on the pole at about 8pm)
PK Dealers will lose the first 3 games coming off the high of beating Bob, somehow manage to make a trade after game 3 that puts them back in it, but will eventually lose out in 6/7 to Swackers, cause, well, Guinness and Jameson!

Underdogs vs Shooters for the Toilet Bowl Cup Saucer Thing: One teams franchise player is Connor McDavid. The other teams franchise player is Chris Stewart. Ya, that guy. Feeling the imbalance yet?
JP spends more time around the Toilet Bowl than my Uncle Jim with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Crappy franchise player or not, JP probably wins this thing cause hes the man when it comes to winning the leagues you already lost in last month. Shooters wins if the Oilers play more than 4 games. Ya, I know I contradicted myself, I dont really care. And neither should you, its the fcking reject Cup!

have fun, but most of all, dont be a sore loser like me!
