yea....it was bad.the dealer was just like "aces full beats.....ohh im sorry four 2's beats aces full...wow, thats pretty lucky....i'm sorry babe " and then she congratulated the other guy.also there isn't a bad beat jackpot as someone referred to earler like there is in most other casinos. i was pretty pissed but hey, thats poker for ya i guess and i still got a lot more to play so i wont let it upset me.

I don't know how old you are but in Detroit casinos (Motorcity Casino) you have to be 21. If you are under 21 I know there is a casino in Mt. Pleasant, MI (Soaring Eagle) w/ limits up to 10/20 and there is a casino in Michigan City, IN you may want to check out although I'm not positive if they have a cardroom.

yep...i had $200 and bought in $50 and doubled it. is there something wrong with that. i am just a student and don't have as much money as most of you guys. :roll:

Some are saying that you could get beat by a flush, straight, etc.And with AA in my hand I want a raise and re-raise in front of me because all I have to do is push my chips in without thought (this is the best hand in poker!) and put the other two guys in the tank

Jim, I wasn't trying to say that the way you look at your cards is wrong in any such way. I can see advantages of looking at your cards this way, I was just talking about how I am used to doing it.

Does anyone know of any limit or NL holdem tourneys in Michigan or close by in the near future??

I recently turned 18 in October and would consider myself a pretty experienced player already. Before turning 18 I had played in several private tourneys run outside of houses, etc. and played everyday with my friends in NL hold'em games. When I turned 18 I started with $200 (I'm a student also) and started playing 3-6 hold'em at Soaring Eagle cardroom and would buy in with $50 and I am currently up to $600. Just find a low-limit game where you are confident you can win.

I prefer to wait and look at my cards when it is my turn. I have picked up several tells in many hands I have played in low-limit holdem from people at my casino and friends.

You have to call. Chances are you are up against two high cards (e.g. AK) or any pocket pair. With other people in the pot chances are likely that they have each other's outs making you an even greater favorite. If you aren't going to call in this situation I don't know what else you could ask for and you would gain a huge chip lead as well by taking advantage of this situation.

Yesterday I was playing at Soaring Eagle Casino 3-6 Limit Hold'em and the following happened:I was on the button and the guy in first position raises, one other guy calls and I re-raise. I am holding A-A. The guy in first position re-raises, the other guy folds and I call. So it is heads-up. The flop comes A-K-K. It scared me at first that he may have pocket kings but he was hesitant to bet the flop and checked. I bet, he raised, I re-raised, he re-raised and I called. The turn and river cards come blanks--two 2's so we go through with raising and re-raising each other and the cards I thought
