  2. What is being forgotten here is that the whole point of cash game poker is getting your money in with the best of it. Sure you can wait for the nuts to call a large all in bet, but then you miss a ton of opportunities to get it in as a 4.5:1 favorite, a 3:1 favorite, etc...all of which are highly profitable situations. With KK preflop, the worst off you could be is a 2:1 favorite against any hand except AA, and considering the player I'll take my chances. If I take a badbeat and lose, soooooo what? As long as my money is in there with a statistical edge, those edges will add up to big profit i
  3. Not only is this online, but its a sit n go to boot. There is no way an all in is going to get anybody to lay AK down with this flop. If that's not enough, the 600 on the turn utterly commits him. If you had this guy completely pegged as a tight conservative player then this should've been an easy laydown on the flop. Even if you're wrong occasionally, you've only limped into the pot and have no good reason to stick around in the face of a big bet. Save your chips for a better situation and an easier decision.
  4. Hello all. I recently qualified for the main event at Bay 101's shooting stars tourney and am selling up to 20% of my action. $1000 gets 5% which I understand is about standard. I keep any bounties collected, but investors are guaranteed a minimum of even money if I cash. While not a household name, I have made 1st and 3rd in 2 cardplayer ranked tournies this year and am currently ranked 89th overall. I have until next Tuesday to sell my action. If interested email me at Rounderkk@yahoo. Bay Area residents are preferred since I would like cash but bank checks will be accepted also.Sincerely,J
  5. I recently played a series of tournaments in the L.A. area to win one and place third in another for a relatively substantial purse. On both occasions complete strangers would stand around watching the final table, take turns kissing each players ass, give them tax advice or whatnot, then hit them up for "lucky chips" afterward. Now while I've had players ask me for money before, I was amazed at how the same ones would literally wait hours for each tournament to end just to beg for money afterward. Has anyone else regularly encountered this problem?
  6. Why don't you think picking up blinds isn't worth it in limit holdem? That's almost 1 big bet everytime you pull it off. Do you think its better to pick off blinds in no limit? Anyway in this kind of game you definately need to raise with more marginal hands preflop and bet more hands on the flop but back off on the turn and river if your hand isn't very strong.
  7. are you insane? I don't think there's any other place online or live that offers more moneymaking opportunities than PP for low and mid limit players. Learn to laugh at bad beats and recognize that getting the best of it in a cash game is all you should be striving for. That being said...I'm in a live NL game, blinds are 1-1-2 and people are regularly calling huge raises with trash because of inplied odds. Fine. I limp behind everyone else with Ks9s on the button and 6 of us take the flop. It comes 5s6sJs. Middle players bets, I raise close to the size of the pot. SB check raises the size of th
  8. But only if you absolutely love playing poker more than anything else. Playing poker for a living is a lot different than playing a few hours a week even if you regularly crush your local game. Keep meticulous books on everything you do involving money exchange including personal expenses, NEVER lend or borrow money unless you absolutely must, try not to get too caught up in the Vegas lifestyle, and learn as many games in addition to holdem as you can. I'm sure I've missed a bunch but I think that's solid advice for someone about to go pro.
