  1. Whoa! Wasn't expecting to see a fellow WashU alum here! What year are you? I graduated in '96 (Comp Sci)
  2. Wow. You are so far out of line on so many levels, it's not even funny. Almost funny, but not quite. The nerve of some people....
  3. I also have been playing sit & go tourneys over the last several months, and have found them very profitable, to the point that I've pretty much abandoned ring games, at least for now. A couple of comments:First, about winning streaks. I think that you'll want to start to develop the attitude of expecting to win. What that means, beyond some mushy concept, is to commit yourself to playing only when you're prepared to do what it takes to win 1st place. If I'm not at a table expecting to win 1st when I sit down, then I'll wait to play until I do feel that way. When you expect to win outright
  4. So I was in a $30 SNG last night, and it's down to four players, top 3 places paid. I ran into a pretty neat hand last night that I'd like to share. And now as I'm reading in the forums, I recognized one of the usernames, and realize that my opponent on this hand is actually a member here! (I didn't know that at the time.) Maybe he'll read this and remember the hand...it was one of the defining hands for that tournament (definitely for my tournament, anyway!). Here's the setup:I was in second chip position with 3145. Blinds are 75/150. Folded to me, I raise to 450 with 6 4 on the button. Th
  5. You know who could do this sort of test, and for that matter, solve the original question using brute force methods? Barry Greenstein. He just added a little section to his site where he's posted computer programs that calculate the odds on just these sorts of scenarios (though not this scenario specifically, it gives you an idea of what such a program would look like). If you're a computer geek and know C, it makes for some interesting reading.
  6. Under normal circumstances, I'd agree 100% with this -- against any reasonable opponent, your advice is correct. But reading over this whole thread, maybe his move isn't as wrong as it first appears. One interesting detail was that in an earlier hand in the same match, this same opponent had led out with a small bet on the flop, and then called a huge raise, with no pair and no draw...just one overcard. And then he checked the rest of the way when his K didn't hit. Based on that play, you realize a couple of things about this particular opponent:1) he doesn't know what he's doing at all2) if h
  7. Well there's 30 seconds of my life I'm never getting back....
  8. A couple more:KathyLiebert = Kathy Liebertemptyseat88 = Scott Fischmanarea23JC = JC TranI saw Tran and E-DOG go heads up the other day -- they were the final two in a $160 double shootout for the WPT event next month. Tran won the seat. (Erick also won a seat in another satellite.)
  9. I think I read somewhere that the PoY gets a free entry to the 10k buy-in event of his choice. Hmm...I wonder which one he'd pick....
