Emily Blount in Edge of Tomorrow is a treat. This is a very underrated movie. I see they're making a second. Hopefully that one lives up to the first.

I know I wasn't addressed, but how does your new companies HSA work? Is it a use it or lose it situation? Does any roll over year to year?

You probably weren't addressed because you don't know the difference between a HSA and a FSA.

HSA money is yours forever and is tax free when you put it in, any interest earned is also tax free, and any withdrawals used for qualified expenses are tax and penalty free. Basically a 401(k) except strictly for medical expenses until your retire.

I don't get any sort of special cut or anything. Pretty sure this is one of 3 allowable haircuts for conservative males in the 50's. Nothing special. It's just that my hairs themselves are champions. They can't help but look great and attract attention.

Why do academics pretty much always seem to suck so bad at actually doing business?

In Germany, we can see pretty flawlessly what happens when you let an academic run your country. They engage in incredibly dangerous and destructive, deeply naive policies because of academic theories that will eventually show themselves a failure, but academics enjoy the endless academic loop where they can always justify academia failing in reality with even more academia.

People who think academics are great intellectuals are kinda like people who think that cops are all highly trained marksmen. Yo don't know what you don't know.

That's good. You had me worried. They do chisel a man, but I'm gonna stay at the Wynn next time I go. Just love that place.

Back like '08 or '09 I got a mailer of 3 free nights at the Wynn. Figure I must've been on some casino host's rolodex and the downturn panicked him enough to mass mail free nights. It was a really nice place. That's where I learned to play craps.

It was middle of the afternoon and the tables were dead. I was the only one sitting at a 3 card poker table and was bullshitting with the dealer and offhandedly mentioned I would love to learn to play craps. He says, my buddy is on a craps table right now and the table is empty, tell him I sent ya. I flipped him a few reds and headed on over. I asked for the dude and told him the other dealer had sent me so he could teach me craps. He said he was going on break but this guy here is Ray from Brooklyn and he's going to get you sorted out. So I start out rolling and I'll be damned if don't get the beginner's hot hand. I'm rolling sevens, sixes, eights, and points like out of Ocean's 13. I'm betting 10 a number with 20 more in odds and instead of tipping I'm betting for the dealer. A guy walks up and joins the action, betting the pass line with odds and passing the dice back to me to continue rolling. A few rolls later he cashes out for around 250 and says "Thanks brother, I was down to my last hundred!" We're having a blast and the floor comes over and says "I like your style, I'm gonna get you a comp at the cafe. I played until I had to piss so bad I was about ready to let it go at the table. I end up cashing out for about 5 or 6 bills and I've never had a hotter hand at the table as I did that afternoon. It's like heroin, I'm still chasing that first high.

This was also the same trip when I had a nice hour or two at the poker table, got shitfaced and paid for a VIP couch at Wasted Space at the Hard Rock just so had a place to sit.

Don't know what this means.

Don't mind SA, he's attempting to transition out of his regular harmless/amusing/quasi-troll persona by occasionally dabbling in actual serious conversations and it is an awkward stage.

clearly tilt was just playfully telling us that radiation is a bitch. obviously no one is going to get some radiation over spring break as a way to relax. but ronny, you could fill us in on your home life. wasn't the wife's son causing problems? hows he doing these days? how are the dogs? how's the job. how's the pool? i can go on.

Wife's son is back to normal. Still hasn't gotten his license or a car, but has been working the same bartender for for something like 18 months, so that's a win
Home life is the same, which is good

Dogs are great

Job had been miserable from October until 2 weeks ago. We did a merger and it got botched. And we're short staffed by 50%. Fun.

Pool is 60 degrees but looks delightful

Have to use a couple of days off on this long weekend coming up to visit my mother. She hasn't been well of late. I'm glad to get to see her and my brother, who I haven't seen in 3+ years and only twice in about 7 years or so. We will play golf for the only the third time ever. Happy about that.

How about yourself, big fella? Got a promo, I'm assuming. Congrats

Bannon is very intelligent but has some very dangerous core beliefs. It's why he's so concerning.

A classic mistake ideologues always wind up making is writing off genius adversaries as being 'evil'.
The problem you have before you in Bannon isn't 'evil'.
'Evil' is dirt cheap and easy to come by.

Your problem is 'genius' because apparently, the left has absolutely nobody in the stable that can counteract the guy, meaning that they're reduced to belittling themselves with whining and tantrums.

This is all rather interesting to observe as the American left has enjoyed cultural supremacy for so long that they've lost the ability to argue their positions in the context of right and wrong, since it's much easier to do it from the basis of 'good' and 'bad' when the cultural mores are yours. Intellectually, they've become like campground dumpster bears who are unable to feed themselves since they're so accustomed to people blindly agreeing with them, suddenly thrust into an area where the dumpsters are fewer and farther between.

They're the 'bad' ones, we're the 'good' ones.
They're the 'intolerant' ones, we're the 'tolerant' ones.
They're the 'bigots', we're the 'accepting' ones.

That's how it's been for a generation or so and that was all they needed. Now that saying 'racist' doesn't really work anymore (much to the relief of scientific racists like Dubey), it boils down to ideas and there, they have a problem.
