Posting Blinds

When is it best to post when you sit at a table? Do posting rules vary by casino, online or live enough to warrant a different approach?
I suppose the choices would be:
1. Wait for the big blind and post then
2. Post immediately regardless of your position
3. Wait for the blinds and button to pass and then post

Personally I like to post anywhere from MP2 to Button, I look a bit more Loose i guess. The guys who wait like 4 or more hands to post are automatically tagged as TAG or tight passive in my mind.
If you are MP1 or UTG+1 or UTG, i'd wait for BB

BigKamp: yyou lose
BigKamp has 15 seconds left to act
BigKamp calls $24.50, and is all in
Seat 1: BigKamp (small blind) mucked [Ad Ac] - a full house, Aces full of Kings
Seat 2: Snamuh (big blind) showed [Kd Kh] and won ($102.50) with four of a kind, Kings
Snamuh: you lose

I've thought for a long time that always waiting for the CO to post was optimal. From what you guys are saying it sounds like it really doesn't matter as long as it's not from UTG or UTG+1. I also have posted from EP on occassion for image purposes, but online it doesn't seem to matter much.
I just wanted to ask the question to see if there was some +/-EV in when you posted blind.

that is pretty much what i do, I think limit and no limit there might be a difference as well. Limit you have much smaller margins so it might make more of a difference than NL.

I'd also like to say that the value of position varies with the game. In a deep-stacked game, I post. In a shallow game, I wait for the BB.
I'd tend to post more immediately often in Omaha than in hold'em. I'd tend to wait in a limit game, mostly because I suck, so the fewer hands I play the better.

UTG: .10
UTG+1: .15
MP1: .20
MP2: .30
MP3: .45
You should post from MP3 or later because the EV you gain in playing the partial orbit is greater than the BB you post.
If you suck, you should wait for the BB.
I personally post from MP2 or later, and I raise ATC if the pot is unraised, especially in limit. It's -EV, buit I think it has metagame value.

Right, if it's folded to me, I feel great about an ATC raise. A limper or two makes it less appealing, but I do it anyway.

Meh, I definitely don't do it with ATC in that scenario. Definitely a wider range than normal, but definitely not like J4o, etc.
