Hey guys.
Just a quick couple of questions.
Hey guys just trying to find out a few queries i have, (Not including the check knock)
1 - Why does the dealer knock before he deals the cards ?
2 - I saw on a poker movie that one player done a double knock (knocked on the table twice) to another person then the other guy replied with a single knock ? anyone know what that is ?
Cheers

1 - The dealer knocks to indicate that the round's action is done, thus the flop/turn/river is about to be dealt. That way, a player can inform him if his action was missed or whatever.
2 - That was a really, really bad movie.

Seriously?
Tapping the table is just a timing habit. When the dealer does it is similar to "washing" their hands to show the eye in the sky that they are "clean". Knocking the table before dealing is just an indication to that action is about to occur.
Players do many things while sitting at the table. Tapping the table is just one way to communicate non-verbally. When you wave at someone, do you always flutter your hand the same nuber of times? On tap, two taps, finger tips, knuckles, fist...whatever, it is all part of the variety of Live Poker. Get off line step away from the TV and into the B&M Casinos & check it out. Real people can be fun.

Also, given the two "Hey Guys" introductions this feels like a Cut & Paste of a posting in another Forum. This guy is making the rounds of Poker Forums with this silly question?
Just guessing.

I've always assumed this as well, it's like the poker version of a roulette dealer passing their hand over the wheel to indicate that the betting is now finished.
Doctor: "Ma'am, we don't like using the term, "Crazy" for our patients. We prefer calling them, "Mentally Hilarious".

Exactly.
Sometimes a player covers their cards with their hands, or has their cards behind their chips. A dealer should always be aware of which players are in, but mistakes happen, and sometimes a player is overlooked. The dealer taps the table to say "I'm about to deal, speak now if I missed you".
What's really fun is when the player is paying even less attention than the dealer and let's about 3 or 4 people act behind him before he hollers that he didn't get to act before the card was dealt.

I walked out right after that scene... although after thinking about it, I would have much rather walked out before drew barrymore lifted her skirt to get on the bike. I am still having nightmares.
"I can psych the shit out of people. I don't need cards to beat you. I can literally have no cards, and I would still beat you. You think that's not playing fairly, or that's not the way a gentleman plays? I would fight you over that."

Why is everyone leaving the theatre during this scene? Sounds to me like they're just checking.

A double tap on the table from a player is the silent equivalent of nice hand...
and then sometimes you tap the table back at them as a thanks, or a you too.
