Like always, litlebullet plays very tag and got here by only playing two hands 14 left, 9 pay. Rip me apart, I deserve it. I apologive in advance for limping those 5's utg. This is a 5 dollar mtt, btw. Just realized I did have position on him heh sorry for the misinformation on the title.

simo_8ball 1
i don't mind the limp, but i'm not calling the raise.+1 (this is a rare occasion where I don't hate open limping). On the flop I would just call his bet. Your raise is far too small to give you any valuable info.As played, the turn is a disgusting decision. Shoving here would be the definition of value bluffing. I probably call and see what happens on the river.
jmbreslin 0
Is this standard timid play from SB? A standard raise PF, followed by a weak flop lead, called your flop raise, then lays down a string bet on the turn. I don't think he'd be doing this with overcards, so I think it's safe to assume you're behind. But his timidness (or is it timidity?) makes me think that he's not too confident in the strength of his hand. You really need a read on how this play fits in with his previous betting patterns.Folding is out of the question. As simo said, you could call the turn and see what happens on the river, but that likely won't change anything. What if he throws out another small bet? If he checks the river, then what? You're likely behind if you go to showdown, so would you then lay down a big river bet? The other option is to push-raise the turn and hope to bully him off the pot at that point. If his betting line does indeed telegraph weakness, then this might be your best option.
Kestral123 0
I have to say, I pretty much hate every play you made on this hand. The limp UTG is not a good idea here on the bubble, and even less so with a desperate short stack behind you. You are not deep enough for set value for a raise, so even after the limp, you can't call the raise. When you do call the raise, and miss the flop, you need to be prepared to give up on the hand. You have plenty of chips; why do you want to play a big pot against SB here when you have no idea where you stand? Not to mention you're on the bubble with a desperate short stack still alive. I think you really messed this one up all the way through.
cubbybri 0
i don't mind the limp, but i'm not calling the raise.I agree with this, your stack too small to hit set against the chip leader.
litlebullet 0
It wasn't the literal and figurative bubble, there was still 5 people to bite the dust at two tables I still wanted to accumulate chips. This is a hand where my ego though really hurt me I guess I thought the chip leader was a lucky boob and I thought I could outplay him, but his chip lead was just too scary and too hard to overcome. I thought about pushing for about 20 secs. typed in you know I'm ahead, right and your just buying yourself a river then smooth called. Here's what happened on the river. Any objections to the river play? River: K (t5000, 2 players)SB bets t600, litlebullet calls t600 (pot was t5600).

jmbreslin 0
River: K (t5000, 2 players)SB bets t600, litlebullet calls t600 (pot was t5600).Man, stop for a second and consider how many chips you threw into that pot with a lowly pair of 5's...
Kestral123 0
You have to call the 600 on the river with the pot as huge as it is. He only has to be bluffing like one time out of ten.
litlebullet 0
I'm not done with this thread yet, I like it. This is poker at its finest lol. Hypothetically speaking, what do we do if he pushes the river? What do we do if I hit my full house on the river, maybe with a third six, or if I hit my 5? What do we do if I get counterfeitted by a 10 or a 9? What do we do if the river is the ace of diamonds? This is a hand that had a whole lot of what ifs. Discuss this superthread! tskillz187 0
typing in chat box against big chip leader with a mediocre hand is not a very good idea.
cubbybri 0
Looking at this, I really do not know what to say. You say he is not too aggressive and nothing special. But he bet out on all streets. He called your flop raise too. You would have to change your opinion of him from nothing special to real donk. With your difference in stack position, if he was bluffing, I think he would have dropped the hammer well before you hit the river. And you didn't outplay him, defeating the purpose of calling the raise preflop.I think you need call this river at this point but I think with the read you gave here, you have no chance of being ahead in this hand. And he was still betting after you chatted at him which leads me to believe he has the trips(tried to steal preflop and hit the flop) weak kicker or JJ+.For all possibilities, I think the issue was if you are ahead or not, if ahead you should have pushed/folded turn as you have nothing in all reality.I know both turn and river bet were way small.... again, the read says nothing special and not a total donk. Now cause you didn't make a strong turn decision... so if he is a donk I can see AK KQ KJ all being possibilities from a donk. I'm babbling now.All started with a bad preflop move in my opinion. I do hope he was bluffing. With a bigger stack I can see this play. But if you want to call cause you think you can outplay him, out play him.
litlebullet 0
agreed this is one of my plays in my repertoire, I need to learn how to drop the hammer on the turn when I'm ahead. I've had a hand like this from last week too where I decide to defend a pocket pair small ball style and I hesitate to push the turn against the overcards I think my opponent has. I've still got a ways to go to be a great tourney player but I try to play like I am one. As for results, he had king jack not suited.
cubbybri 0
It happens. After hacking your play up I must admit that I victim of the same inability at times. Just remember your objective in the hand and if you do have to reevaluate than do so but get out if it looks futile. In this hand your turn and river play is more of a leak which can hold you from playing well to playing great. Again, I catch myself at times doing the same thing.I hope after this hand you give this player more of a donk status than anything as his play was horrible IMO. He was praying and your calls allowed him to catch. He did have a Q to rout for but he obviously used some WEAK blocking bets in his arsenal.Hopefully you got another chance against him, if not, maybe your paths will cross again. SlackerInc 0
His little bets read like he has an ace that hasn't hit (or it could be a small to medium pocket pair, which most likely has you beat); so I guess you have to stick with the hand since he never prices you out. But I do think you should have folded preflop.
jmbreslin 0
His little bets read like he has an ace that hasn't hitMaybe the flop bet does, but I don't think many opponents would fire a 2nd small bet on the turn after being raised like that on the flop with just A-high. To me that turn bet screams, "Thanks for building the pot on the flop, now I'll try again on the turn." I think overcards would have checked the turn after that flop raise. spydur86 0
I get myself into a lot of weird situations with hands like this but I have to agree with breslin. If he's going to call a reraise on the flop, and then not be scared to get reraised again on the turn, he's probably got your 5's beat. As played, as long as he's not pricing you out I think you have to call and hope he's betting with air.
