JesseW316 0
Anyone think I should slow down at any point? I'm kinda lost on what to do or if I even made any big mistakes. I think I might lay it down pf, I was kinda on Tilt because this is such a juicy table and I have been absolutely card dead, I bought in for 1k and was basically blinded to here, pretty dead.Any advice is appreciatedPokerStars 15/30 Omaha/8 (10 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)Preflop: Hero is UTG with K, A, Q, K. Royal_Tour 0
lol as i scrolled down this hand, i started to lean towards the straight flush. and how the only hand that might be capping vs you since u have the A and K of hearts is the T,8h.
Actuary 3
I suggest you read forum guidelines.Kids these days.If you're doing this on purpose because Zach was going to close all of these from now on.. then.. ok.. its kinda funny. You are probably wondering why I'm going thru all of this trouble instead of actuall reading the hand and commenting on it.Well, maybe this will stick in your head and you will actually do it right next time."No" ?"I'm an ass" ?"You want to punch me in the mouth" ? JesseW316 0
alright modified, my bad guys. I don't post in strat here enough so I wasn't aware of the problem you guys have had.
Actuary 3
Jesse,'hey, I don't play much O8And seeing thst you play 15/30, I'll treat this like me learning by posting - and you might choose to ignore it.UTG with no low, I'd think this is a fold preflop ?On turn, I'm not used to Omaha math; but a worse flush or a set ever lead into you on the turn? You have the A and the Khopefully Zach moves this to O8 section and we both learn. antistuff 0
unless the sb is an absolute maniac do not raise this turn.you could have folded the river there for one. if 7 players to the flop is normal for this table then preflop is fine.
JesseW316 0
Yes, that many to the flop is common here, this table is CRAZY. I'm still sitting there even though I'm having a really bad run, because these guys are horrible and insane.I definitely think I can fold this preflop, and I would a lot of the time, but with this game, and the fact that I hadn't seen a hand in a LONG time, I went for a big flop that would definitely pay me off big time (and I was certain after the flop that I would be paid off BIG if the board didn't pair). To actuary, yes, a worse flush and a set could both be possible from this guy, he's still sitting there and his aggression is really almost impressing me. I can't believe someone could be this aggro and not be broke, it's really amazing. My read after the crazy action I was getting on the flop and turn was that they both had a set and it was definitely possible.
navybuttons 16
something's wrong in amsterdam when he puts in the 3rd raise on the turn. that said, i probably play it the same way. i think smooth calling here gives up more value in the long run.
fiezk 0
It's always differrent depending of the climate at the table, but I probably call down from the turn on, since you have both the A and K of hearts. It takes a pretty stupid villain to think that he's ahead with a T high flush when you lead into 6 people and the flop is capped. Good fold on the river.
Frez 0
I won't play a high only hand from early position,

My read after the crazy action I was getting on the flop and turn was that they both had a set and it was definitely possible.whoa, i just read this. just as a warning, if you're saying this kinda stuff you're horribly outmatched at the stars 10 and 15 games, just fyi. i'd recommend starting at 5/10 where a few players will be playing lag/tricky but most will be straightforward enough to where you can really concentrate on learning the intricacies of more aggressive and open play at lo8.what seems to be "insane" and way over aggressive is honestly lo8 play at a level one step above what most players are used to. some of the 10 and 15 players can pull it off better than others, but the basic gist of it is that oftentimes turn raising with 2p or some such thing is going to push out low draws calling 2 cold behind and isolate pots against someone on whom an aggro player might have a strong read, either for this specific hand or longterm. the idea behind these very marginal raises is twofold: first, showing this kind of aggression ensures that one will get paid off when s/he holds a nut/nut hand, whereas these players just won't pay you off very often unless you play aggressively all the time; and second, if you really understand how to use these sorts of isolation plays (note: these guys are almost always doing this on the turn when low draws are not there yet, etc), they can be done profitably longterm. granted, a lot of the 15 players know what these plays are, but not quite how to use them profitably, but there are a few you could really learn from.give a look at the styles of missmuffet, infectedtoe, and kid wonder, three of the strongest winners at these limits on stars. they do exactly what i'm talking about and do it very, very well. Zach6668 513
Jesse, I thought you were a micro limit player, how is it that you're playing the 15 O8 game now? Or was my initial thought/perception just off?
JesseW316 0
Jesse, I thought you were a micro limit player, how is it that you're playing the 15 O8 game now? Or was my initial thought/perception just off?initial was kinda off, I haven't played cash in quite awhile, last time I really concentrated on cash it was lower stakes (like 50NL and 50PLO, and 3/6 O8). I've built my roll with SNGS and MTTS, but I've started running really disgustingly bad in those and I think it's due to boredom. So I decided to get a different outlook by playing some other stuff that I use to play all the time but haven't in awhile. I just saw how laggy this game was, and I'm overrolled for it anyway, so I figured I could sit for awhile and see how the game plays. I have moved down to 10/20 and 5/10 depending on what game is going at any moment.I understand why checky said I'm a little outmatched and that's probably right. I haven't played O8 in awhile so I'm a little rusty, which is why I've moved down. I'm confident I can play with those guys though, I just need some work and to watch the game for awhile to get a better idea of the tendencies.
Actuary 3
I'm pretty sure checky was drunk when he wrote that.on a less serious note, I gotta get into O8.Once I start playing again.glad this hand was in the wrong forum for a bit

Shimmering Wang 1
from having read your holdem posts for so long and feeling like i have sort of an idea what it is you like about holdem so much you will absolutely love playing o8.I've recently become a fucking O/8 junkie. I retired from poker, then started dealing, and mostly dealt Omaha. I ventured up there one day to play, and told everyone if they pointed out my mistakes, I'd be there every single day with at least 300 bucks on my off days for 3 weeks. Now I just love the game. It's like crack. Fucking crack. I think you'd like it, too, Actuary.

sealster 0
o8 is an amazing game that got me off of playing holdem when I had gotten bored of it. That said the minute I found Triple Draw I was happy to take a break, but that game is INSANE!
