I'd like to see a poker tournament segragated by race and ethnicity.Asians versus the Jews, Central Europeans versus Northern Europeans, Hispanics versus Blacks. Each race picks its four best men, then goes at it in four different mixed table SnGs for the championship. The beauty of it would be that the hypersensative, PC types would cry and everyone else would love it.It's totally win/win. (I'll make book on it.Jews- 1.5-1Northern Europeans- 2-1Asians- 2.5-1All Other Europeans- 3-1Blacks- 5-1Hispanics- 7-1)

Ok you're an idiot. This isn't baseball and nothing in anyway compares to it. Panders? Explain a triple? When was the last time they explained how hold'em was played on a tv show? We aren't talking about basics here, we are talking about obscure stats. And yes if you had to put up 10k of your own money every time you stepped up to the plate and any tom **** or hairy could throw a 90 fastball and a curve at you you wouldn't want the tv handing out the stats that you strike out on 6th pitch change ups to the people you are going to be playing against. If they got that info on their own then thats good scouting but if you had the tv handing out stats that allowed them to be able to beat you you'd be singing a different when its your own money on the line. And lastly this just an example of being holier than thou. Baseball is a better game because of the rediculous amount of stats is a silly arguement at best and laughable at worst.

Thats total BS. There isn't a poker show I don't watch and none of them do that. As a matter of fact the last time I saw a show go over how the game was played was reruns of the '04 WSOP.

Unfortunately, I think the only place you'll ever see a no-b*llsh*t show for serious players will be on Cable Access at 3AM.

The problem is if I was a pro and the TV shows were doing what you are suggesting I would never ever play a TV table. Everyone could simply watch the show and know exactly how to play me.Plus they don't show a TON of hands and that allows them to cut and edit to make the drama/action look exactly how they want. If they showd the stats for ALL the hands played then it limits how they can portray certain players and certain situations at the table.
I'm with the banned guy on this one, though not quite for his reasoning.I don't want Average Joe knowing advanced tournament strategies, or even basic tournament ones. If that means I have to live with a drama filled, heavily edited, panders to the public poker on TV, then so be it. Enough educating people. Let them do their own research or damn them straight to hell.

im still not sold that many of these people that get these big online scores are winners when it comes to the live game, which, by the way, is real poker.

Um... I can go so far as to agree that one of us is an idiot. I didn't argue that baseball is a better game, I suggested that poker could be a better television show (more engaging) if there were more stats, and I used baseball as an example, and then added some baseball-related metaphors. <pointless spelling corrections>Ridiculous. Argument. Harry.</pointless spelling corrections>

I really don't understand what HDTV can do for poker. Its good for shows, but how much clearer do players need to be. Even if you are a pro and are watching a show for tells, HD won't make a difference.
Oh come on, don't you want to see Paul Magrill in HD?

How about if they didn't show the hole cards until the hand is over? I think that would be more interesting. You can guess at first about what they have, and then they show when the hand is over.

This is why I can't stand watching or listening to baseball anymore. Everybody leads the league in something! You know Harry, he leads the league in hits on Sunday nights when the moon is full....
I don't know how anyone can watch baseball on TV.

I've been watching televised poker for a long time, and I know you have too.I'd like:1) More stats. I'm a sports nut, and I dig the stats. The percentages to win are good, but how about stack trends, aggro ratings, player notes, blind defense rate? I know that Vernon Wells hits .194 in night games, but I have no idea what DN's raise percentage is from late position, and nobody is going out of their way to tell me (either for the current tournament or lifetime).2) Player voiceover post-production. Not overused, but just bring a few star players in during post to talk over a few key hands while it is being shown. Let's hear the inner voice during the broadcast.3) Better graphics. There has to be better way to do the card display. I want to keep the folded cards available to see post-flop misses.4) Rabbit-cams. More, please. I know it's bad for poker, but it's good for TV.5) Commentators. Must have a cliche list. Once they use one, it has to be crossed off, and can't be used again in the same broadcast. I'm talking to you, Vince.6) HDTV.7) .... add your own.
1. Of course no one is going out of their way to do it. Would you like to watch every hand someone has played from a certain position?2. Yeah, that would be nice3. No, cause it doesnt matter if someone folded T8 and the flop with TT8. That would only matter to donks who then go 'ZOMG I KNEW THAT GUY SHOULD HAVE PLAYED THAT HAND!!!' 4. Same point as number 3. The best play is determined by what did happen, not what was GONNA happen.5. Agree, I like the commentating on PAD, very little and only saying relavant stuff. 'We will see a flop 3 handed' not 'Blah blah blah divorce, blah blah blah ace of spades blah blah blah'6. No, nobody real cares enough to enhance the sound of chip tricks.I would like to see all graphic be like the WPT from the good seasons.(like the 3rd)-Percentages-To call $XXX,XXX-Calls $XXX,XXX-Raises to $XXX,XXX

Yeah, so if you made the FT of a WPT event, youd say 'Im gonna DQ myself, im not gonna play on TV'. Or if you were a big stack at the ME of the WSOP and they said they were gonna move you to the featured table, youd walk away an let them blind off your chips untill they move you away from itAnd so what, people can see how you play. LEARN FROM WHAT THEY SEE. A good player would learn from what they showed on TV and do this thing that good players do called......CHANGING GEARS.Youre basically saying youre only gonna play one way your entire life
