200NL heads up, the read is that this guy is overly lag and cannot ever surrender a pot.Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (2 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)Button ($103)Hero ($222.10)Preflop: Hero is BB with 7diamond.gif, 7spade.gif. Button raises to $7, Hero calls $4.Flop: ($13) 9heart.gif, 4heart.gif, 4diamond.gif(2 players)Hero checks, Button bets $8, Hero calls $8.Turn: ($29) 2club.gif(2 players)Hero checks, Button bets $17, Hero calls $17.River: ($63) 2spade.gif(2 players)Hero checks, Button bets $46, Hero calls $46.Final Pot: $155i was very close to folding river, i decided to call based on a couple reasons, the obvious ones being that there arnt any overcards on the board and the flush draw missed. whoever responds, make sure before you post to remember that this guy is overly lag, and NOT your typical player.

I've seen money go in in worse spots I guess. Considering everything you said, I might call if I thought he was a betting an A kicker chop.

I think ths is pretty standard HU against a LAG. 2 probably isnt in his range and while a 4 MIGHT be I'm not too worried. Obviously we're worried about a 9 but more often then not he just missed and is bluffing down.I like making a blocking bet on this river also. He probaably calls it with A high or a weaker PP and it saves you money if he has a 9 because it is unlikely he'd reraise it.

i feel that while, at times the blocking bet is a good tool to use, here it should not be used. you said he calls with a weaker pocket pair which is defintely true, but there are only 3 pocket pairs that we beat here. also, in this hand in general, a large portion of the time he has complete air, not even ace high. if that is true, a blocking bet is not effective at all because if someoen has lets say, 10 high here, they are either going to fold when they might have bluffed if you checked river, or they are going to make a ballsy reraise with nothing, which puts anyone at a very tough decision. the idea of a blocking bet is defintely a sound one, but i do not feel it applies here.
