Okay we're down to finall 11 of a 70 person mtt (this is live by the way), $30 buyin, no rebuys. I have $18,000 and the blinds are 2000/4000, so I'm pretty desperate for a hand. I'm in the BB, UTG (very good player) min raises to $8000, folded around to me and I look down at 22, what should I do? He had me covered.I could move allin preflop.I could respect the raise and fold to the good player.I could call the bet and hope to flop trips. What's my move?
Do I go allin preflop here?

FOLD! This is a no brainer, every hand he could have is a coin flip situation at best for you. This is an automatic fold with any raise in front of you. If you call with 22, your basically praying he has AK and not a pocket pair, otherwise your a 4:1 dog. Raising will just induce a call and you'll likely be knocked out. A call commits near half your chips with an 11% chance of flopping a set. Like I said before FOLDING is automatic here.

Have to fold here, from the sounds of it by "Very good player" Its a player that you respect and think has a good hand. So You've got to be a big underdog here, at the VERY best you a 50-50 buy by the sounds of it you were on or near the button, and you put him on a pocket pair. Fold, Make your play with something else as quick as you can.

I would echo the fold here. I seem to get in this predicament every week in my casino's Saturday morning tournament. The blinds go up every 15 minutes, which is crazy, so no matter how good you play, it comes down to surviving at least 3 all ins if you want to make the final table. One tournament I ended up being all in a total of 5 times, I called 4 of them, and my reads were right, I was way up and didn't get sucked out on. I ran into the same situation you had and went all in with AQs, I had the better hand again and lost to K4 when a K and a 4 flopped. Now I realize that this was a totally different situation than you had. You had time to hope for a better hand than 22. Although it's up to you, maybe you like to gamble.EDIT If the guy was in the small blind, and raised, I might have beaten him into the pot with all my chips if I was REALLY sure that he was bluffing / EDIT

unless the average stack is about 60+k and you're by far the shortest stack, you fold, easy

Yea it's pretty easy to fold this hand because you are either in a coin flip, or way behind. Minimum raise is very suspcicious as well, doesnt seem to be scared of a call, either that or he's weakly trying to steal the blinds. I'd fold this in a heartbeat and pick a better spot.

It depends. The one thing you cant do in call. Either go all in or fold. unless your opponent had A2, K2, etc. It is at best for you a coin flip. So if you wanted to gamble call, otherwise wait for another hand
