Just wanted to make sure I played it right, since my luck has been absolute shit as of late.I was playing pretty straight forward the entire time. The dude had to know that I had hit something on the flop since every single hand I turned over had a part of the board. He decides to call me down with Ad6d, and of course (my luck wouldn't have it any other way) he hits his runner runner flush to bust me.

The answer is:when you don't raise preflop, people can flop a straight draw with something like 4d5d, which turns into a flush draw on the turn, giving them a lot of outs, which they get to make a better hand than two pair to win the pot.Raising to $15 or $20 preflop would have probably taken it down preflop and won you a small pot instead of you losing a big pot.

I had thought that, but the way these players were playing the would have called the raise. Besides he is calling roughly pot sized bet against someone who has repeatedly shown cards that have a part of the board. He wasn't getting the odds to chase his flush or the three remaining aces on the flop.

raising preflop doesn't seem to help with your stack size, position and the players already in the hand. As played, jam the turn. Yes he almost 100% calls the extra 17, but you don't have the embarrassment of betting into the nuts on the river. And 1 time out of 25 or so him seeing you don't have anything left makes him give it up. Maybe 1 in a 100, sounds like a donkey. Jam turn.
