So this is it, it was only a question of time, our very own Hockey super thread. Instead of starting "Official" team threads for each team this is where we can come and drop an opinion on the game you saw or the play of so and so.

I really just wanted to point out detroit is pounding Calgary, OUCH!

Islanders are gonna need more then 1 shot a period to even win one game let alone make the series interesting. Also, I think most of the fun for the FCP pool that Daniel started will be during the first round when we all have all our players and a shot at winning.

Wings vs. Flames...

LOL, Calgary is no the same team they were a few years ago. I can see why they lost so many road games.

Until Iginla just got put in the box I didn't even know he was playing tonight...lol.

I don't predict the Wings going far but if Gary doesn't get their act together they are hosed.

I like watching a dude who hasn't played for 20 games skate circles around the flames.

Yes i am probably eating crow by the end of the series but i am having fun watching the Wings play their first solid playoff game in 3 yrs. tongue.gif

Steve,

It doesn't matter who you start because you have a horse shoe up your ass so far I'm not really sure how you get through the day. You must be gay.

Nice embellishment kipper, must be wathcing too much hasek tapes.

Nice work by the refs just standing there like the retards while the Calgary player is beating the crap out of both Cleary AND the linesman.

Better get over it fast Calgary or you are toast.

without the shootout, tampa bay = distinctly average.

No idea wtf the shootout has to do with it, but Tampa was 15th out of 30 teams in the regular season... pretty average if you ask me.

WHAT????????

i only listened to the last period on the radio here,as i was out earlier, but it seems to me they are an average team that rely on 1 line and a goalie who is good on the breakaway. granted i didnt see this game but whilst i was listening it seemed they had a fair few shots from the outside that marty snaffled up plus i read a stat that without the shootout wins in the conference they would have finished in 10th place. just my opinion however. if they make it through round 1 feel free to shoot me down.

Don't mistake a lack of depth with average... The second line is pretty damn good too, but they lack a for real third line. However, these guys can score.... how long has everyone been talking about Brodeur in the playoffs, and the Lightning pumped three past him at home (And he made a couple of HUGE saves to keep them from tying the game). I think the lightning have their issues, but average to me insinuates a lack of talent. ANd talent, they got...

fair enough, next time i wont make such a sweeping statement on a game i havent seen the entirity of but i still dont think they have enough talent to dethrone marty and knock the devils out this year. it's mainly the goaltending i am unconvinced by to be honest; you have stated the lightning pumped 3 past broduer but this series was announced as offence vs defence and for the devils to score 5 on anyone has got to be worrying for them with the devils finishing 2nd worst in the conference dont you think?

Absolutely true.... the D is not bad, but exploitable.... Holmquist COULD be called average, althought hot and cold is probably closer.... but when someone talks about average teams, I think of teams like...well, like the Leafs.... average at best.... and, by the same token, don't underestimate the offensive firepower of the devils... Parise, Gionta, Gomez, Elias.... they can light it up as well... anyway, I said before I think this one goes seven

You will only notice him on the powere play as St Louis and Lecavelier are together on the 2st line and he is tuck with a couple of pluggers (compared to the 2 mentioned above)
So did the 3 periods of overtime shutout hockey count as a shut out for Turco in Game 1?

I agree but that's what happens when you pay 3 players a total 21 Million a year. Half of your total cap. Me I would've traded St. Louis before they resigned him and got 2 good players for the $$ they paid him so that both Lecavelier and Richards would have help on their lines.

i'm actually embarrassed to say that i considered getting late-released tickets for the MN/AN game tonight, but the idea of watching the ducks play the wild was actually so boring to me that i decided against it. it'd cost probably $260 for 2 reaonable seats, plus parking, plus the drive down there, so...eh. what's sort of silly is that the ducks have quite a few stars on their team, and marian gaborik alone is worth the cost of watching minnesota, but i still just don't care enough.

maybe if the ducks advance i'll go next round, depending on the opponent.
